Starting from the Internet Explorer engine, Avant Browser adds useful capabilities, such as grouped favorites, an RSS reader, and tabbed browsing. The first thing we noticed upon launch was the aesthetically pleasing skin that came as the default with Avant Browser, but you can choose from among many preloaded skins in the Tools menu. The tabbed-browsing feature lets you quickly switch among Web sites, rather than having to shuffle through several browser instances in the Windows taskbar. If you visit several Favorites often, you can save them as a group and open the whole group with one click. When you shut down the program, Avant Browser remembers which windows were open and launches them the next time it starts up. You also can automatically refresh all windows, or only the current one, at regular intervals. A simple pop-up blocker works in most cases, but it was powerless against some floating banners and other, more obscure pop-up methods. Pros
Not resource heavy,it's use feels light when browsing. It is quick loading and has a fantastic memory of where it goes while still trying to make the most of it's security protecting my privacy. I use other browers only when demanded by the site visited.
Cons
I do wish it had more options for settings and appearance, Foxfire is the best at that and kind of spoils you for more choice especially for plugins. I still choose Avant as long as it continues to deliver it's present dependability and THANK YOU Avant developers. tdsr

I have been using it for about a year without any problems. It is fast. The similar pages feature is handy. Allows personalization accordingly to my needs.
Cons
I could not figure out how to make Google my default search engine. I don't think the form filler is really necessary as the RoboForm plug-in does the job.

Would like more canned skins, and cannot ftp, but I use filezilla for that anyway, since IE's ftp sucks.

This browser is kinda like combining Firefox, Opera, Internet explorer. Though it is an IE shell it still functions alot like firefox and opera. Ever since I've been using this browser they have updated it 5 times. Hopefully, they will try to increase how well IE extensions work with it. Once they do this, it will be the best. Also has the best pop up blocker I've ever seen. It blocks nearly if not ALL popups. It also blocks ads.
Cons
IE extensions don't function properly right now. I have seen them updating alot though so hopefully the newer versions will keep improving this.

Pros
Tabbed display. Nothing else. Its buggy, not ready for prime time. Resets all of your settings and redefines standard naming conventions (remember "Favorites"?). Do not install this software.
Cons
I have used Avant for years. I am REALLY disappointed in the 11.x version. It is REALLY bad. I wrote Anderson (the developer) and told him about my less than thrilling experience. I told him that I wanted to go back to the previous version 10.58. He told me to go to the forum and they would help me with the new version. In other words, NO, I cannot install the previous version. Hey Anderson, I have news for you - its gone! I uninstalled and installed the newest IE version 7. Guess what? Its far more stable than Avant, doesn't blow away your settings, has a tabbed interface and many other great features. Bye, bye Avant Browser, hello IE 7.
