CNET Editors' review
Auslogics Duplicate File Finder is a basic program that allows users to find and delete duplicate files taking up valuable space on their hard drives. This is a helpful utility for users who find themselves with limited disk space and can't figure out why.
The program's interface is simple and extremely easy to use. Users simply select the folders they want to search in, set the matching criteria and file types, and click the Scan button. The program displays a list of duplicate files, allowing users to select and delete those that are not needed. That's really all there is to it. The program was quite intuitive and we didn't particularly need any guidance to use it, but we were disappointed by the lack of Help file. Although there is a Help menu, it leads to the publisher's Web site on which there is only a four-question list of frequently asked questions. This oversight is really our single complaint about the program; it's a bit of a one-trick pony, but it is quick and effective. In fact, we had run a similar program before testing Auslogics Duplicate File Finder that had already deleted the vast majority of our duplicate files, but this program found a few more. Color us impressed.
Auslogics Duplicate File Finder is free. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users; even those with limited system maintenance experience will find it easy to use.
Auslogics Duplicate File Finder - Find and remove duplicate files from your PC - Download Video Previews:Publisher's Description
From Auslogics Software:
Most computer users create and download different files on a daily basis. As time goes by, hard disks get packed with documents, pictures, music, videos, and other files. And then suddenly there is almost no free disk space left! But that is only partly true. Most people are unaware of how many duplicate files there are cluttering their hard disks. All those songs that have been downloaded twice, holiday photos uploaded multiple times, documents copied and pasted, so that you have them in two folders at once. All that wasted disk space can be reclaimed by simply deleting duplicate files.

"Good program for the price (or lack of one)"
Version: Auslogics Duplicate File Finder 2.5.1.0
Pros
Easy to use
Rescue Center is a convenient safety net
Free!Cons
Slow when searching a lot of files (to be expected, I guess)
No log of what has been found/deleted
Doesn't delete files from the same folders
Doesn't detect all duplicates - sometimes misses the obvious onesSummary
My computer's a bit of an organizational nightmare, after it's crashed a couple of times and I've had to back it up again and again. My music was the worst - most of it was in the Music folder, then copied again with more things into iTunes Music, then copied again with still more things into iTunes Music>Music. I had up to four or five copies of some things. It was ridiculous. This program cleaned most of that up.
It wasn't flawless, as it doesn't always delete from the same folder. Say you've got the same files in A, B, and C - sometimes it deletes duplicates from A, other times from B, sometimes from C. So that's going to take a while to organize. And it misses some really obvious duplicates, too. I've got more than one folder of the same album in the artist's folder, but it didn't detect any duplicates at all. It also didn't detect the duplicates when they were in the same folder. Strange.
Overall, though, this was a pretty neat little program. It cleared up a good 32gb of space for me! Considering it's free, I think it's definitely worth a try. I'd imagine most people's folders aren't as messy as mine, anyway. -
"Quick, accurate"
Version: Auslogics Duplicate File Finder 2.5.1.0
Pros
Accurate file identification
Cons
Doesn't do Office files as an option.
Summary
Does what it does well. Needs to provide more file selection options. Could also use a filter for files used by multiple applications duplicated in each program location.

"Will not by anything from this company."
Version: Auslogics Duplicate File Finder 2.5.1.0
Pros
I have no pros
Cons
Auslogic put a toolbar on my browsers that I am unable to remove from Chrome even after uninstalling their program. My opion is this is barely better than malware in their tactics to make a sale.
-

It didn't seem very fast, but that was not a concern for me.

"Fantastic Application"
Version: Auslogics Duplicate File Finder 2.5.1.0
Pros
Easy,free & reliable
Cons
In the form "Select Search Criteria (4/4)" if you happen to press
"Select" combo box in order to "Select all duplicates in each group" automatically duplicate files are checked. But 2 files from the test folder and the other 2 files from the test1 folder. It is optional if you do not press "Clean up junk files" button in the very last result form.Summary
"Auslogics Duplicate File Finder" Version 2.5.1.0 is free for personal use.
I deliberately created two folders test and test1 in C drive. I did copied 5 image files in test and test1 folders respectively. I did invoked "Auslogics Duplicate File Finder" application. I did checked test and test1 check boxes respectively. I did selected look for these type files only radio button and checked Images check box. I navigated to the next form "Select Search Criteria (2/4)" by pressing next button. I did not check any check box in this form. I navigated to the next form "Select Search Criteria (3/4)" by pressing next button. I did not check any check box in this form. I navigated to the next form "Select Search Criteria (4/4)" by pressing next button. I did selected "To Recycle Bin" radio button. I did pressed Search button. All the 10 image files found in test and test1 folders got listed along with a check box adjacent to the file names. I manually did checked the check box of the duplicate files that need to be deleted. I did pressed the combo box "Delete Selected Files". I got the alert message in a dialog about the intended action. I did pressed OK button and the deleted files were moved to "Recycle Bin". And action results were displayed in the immediate form. -
"Useless application - should be removed from CNET"
Version: Auslogics Duplicate File Finder 2.5.1.0
Pros
Did find duplicates but with multiple issues. See cons section for details.
Cons
Auslogic Duplicate File Finder v2.5.1.0 was able to find duplicate files, however, there were multiple issues with the product itself. Looks like the product was written by a high school student over a weekend.
1. No way to pause search once it starts.
2. No way to save output of duplicate file search.
3. No logs of what is done by the user or the software for later analysis.
4. Once you complete duplicate file search, and click on another button to see what options are available, you'll loose all your search output and have to state search all over again! Totally asinine.
5. If you select duplicate files and choose "Delete Selected Files->To Rescue Center", it removed files from the wrong folder and didn't save files in Rescue Center as stated.
6. After deleting duplicates, software searches for junk files, however, doesn't list the file it asks to clean up. Again totally juvenile. -

"Fast, accurate, and free"
Version: Auslogics Duplicate File Finder 2.5.1.0
Pros
Can search for duplicates by name, date, or (my preference) by file contents alone. It's very fast - it went through about 50,000 files in less than five minutes.
"Free for personal use" - This is what it says in the program's "about box" and that's correct. It doesn't cost anything, and it isn't limited in any way.Cons
It does come with a little bit of shovelware but nothing malicious. The installer will ask if you want to install their Ask.com toolbar and set your homepage, but you can un-check both options.
After finishing a duplicate scan with the program, it will show a "Junk file search" and clicking on "Clean Up Junk Files" will take you to a webpage to download their BoostSpeed product, but you don't have to click the "Clean up" button - you can just ignore it.
