Join your hard drive fragments together into a tight bunch with this freeware. Auslogics Disk Defrag's interface couldn't be any cleaner or easier to use.
Choose a hard drive from an easy-to-read pull-down menu, and Disk Defrag instantly displays the drive's size, and used and free space. The program even displays a pie graph for visual learners. One click starts the defragmentation process. The program's defrag process screen displays another handy visual. A sector map makes it easy to see how much of the drive is fragmented, allocated, or free. As the program churns away, the defragged sectors are displayed in blue.
We found the program fast, even on older XP systems. A handy HTML report is prepared after each defrag session. A summary displays the total files and folders defragged, while the detail section lists the defrag outcome for each file. We only wish a final sector map was included in the report. Novices to system administrators will love this easy-to-use hard drive defrag program.

Publisher's description
From Auslogics Software :Disk fragmentation leads to system slowdowns, PC crashes, slow startup and shutdown and sometimes to system failures. Auslogics Disk Defrag is designed for fast optimization of today's modern hard disks. Get the maximum performance out of your expensive hardware investments. And it's absolutely free. Hard disks are by far the slowest component in your computer. CPU and memory work much faster than hard disks because they do not have moving parts. Therefore fragmented disks often become a bottleneck of the system performance. Besides causing slowdowns, fragmentation makes the hard drive disk heads move frequently when reading files which leads to freeze-ups and system crashes. It is important to keep your disks defragmented and optimized as much as possible.

Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 2.1.2.40
"Very, very fast & easy to use"
Pros: Reviewing the product itself instead of version because I just downloaded the new version & have not had time to install and run yet. But previous version was so fast that I could not believe it had defragged both my very large hard drives!
Cons: Read one viewer saying you had to pay for this new version, so now I am hesitant about installing this one. I thought C-net and the web site for this program both said "Free"?
Summary: My main hard drive (C) is over 500 GBs and my slave drive (external hard drive) where I store all my data (pictures & documents) is 1 T. So I was really surprised when this program defragged both hard drives in less than 30 minutes! That makes m... read more >>

"As good or better than Diskeeper!"
Pros: Very fast and the exact same resilts when compared to Diskeeper on the same PC!

Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 2.1.2.40
"Easy to use , no problems, did the job."
Pros: Downloaded without issues, ran with no issues, report was what I expected, and performed the task without taking too much time.
Cons: I haven't found any dislikes so far. This is a FREE download, so what is there not to like if it does the job in a timely manner with no problems?
Summary: Again, as stated above, it is FREE, it is easy to use, it performed the task without any undo circumstances, the features are very useful and all that is really needed for everyday home use.

"Perhaps less efficient than previous version."
Pros: Run time about same as previous version.
Cons: Previous versions would show taking my defragmentation down to below 0.40 percent. My first run of this version shows defragmentation going only from 6.95 percent to 4.59 percent.
