Join your hard drive fragments together into a tight bunch with this freeware. Auslogics Disk Defrag's interface couldn't be any cleaner or easier to use.
Choose a hard drive from an easy-to-read pull-down menu, and Disk Defrag instantly displays the drive's size, and used and free space. The program even displays a pie graph for visual learners. One click starts the defragmentation process. The program's defrag process screen displays another handy visual. A sector map makes it easy to see how much of the drive is fragmented, allocated, or free. As the program churns away, the defragged sectors are displayed in blue.
We found the program fast, even on older XP systems. A handy HTML report is prepared after each defrag session. A summary displays the total files and folders defragged, while the detail section lists the defrag outcome for each file. We only wish a final sector map was included in the report. Novices to system administrators will love this easy-to-use hard drive defrag program.

Publisher's description
From Auslogics Software :Disk fragmentation leads to system slowdowns, PC crashes, slow startup and shutdown and sometimes to system failures. Auslogics Disk Defrag is designed for fast optimization of today's modern hard disks. Get the maximum performance out of your expensive hardware investments. And it's absolutely free. Hard disks are by far the slowest component in your computer. CPU and memory work much faster than hard disks because they do not have moving parts. Therefore fragmented disks often become a bottleneck of the system performance. Besides causing slowdowns, fragmentation makes the hard drive disk heads move frequently when reading files which leads to freeze-ups and system crashes. It is important to keep your disks defragmented and optimized as much as possible.

Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 2.1.2.35
Pros: I used this for a long time. The new version has improved UI and auto-defrag function also The new version completes defragging of all drives within seconds,at high-speed.
Cons: Due to its high-speed defragging or so,in the new versions,I suspect some disk errors
because everytime, after running this ,I get disk error message on next windows-bootup and I had to run CHKDSK and fix it.Now I don't use it ,and no disk errorsSummary: The previous versions were so good, but, the new versions, updated almost every alternate days, have some defects, that the developers may have to look into.

"One HOT utility to have in your system!"
Pros: The user interface is much improved from the previous version. Additionally, it is much quicker it its new incarnation!
Cons: Absolutely nothing wrong with this product
Summary: It is one of a suite of utilities produced by Auslogics. True, it's a free version and as such it is limited in its use. BUT it is fully functional, does the job much quicker than anything included with the operating system, and is pretty much easy... read more >>

Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 2.1.2.35
"Better than nothing I suppose."
Pros: It's fast at defragmenting your HDD. If that's all you require, then it's o.k.
Cons: All this program does is defragment the HDD,nothing else. If you want anything more than that, then look elsewhere. Nags you to look at their other products.
Summary: Auslogics say in their description of this program that it "optimizes" hard drives, that's totally untrue,it is a simple defragmenter nothing more. Auslogics cause confusion by using the term "optimization" because it doesn't optimize the HDD at all.... read more >>

Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 2.1.2.35
Pros: Small download file. Quick to install. Defrags fast. Can pause the defrag. Small use of memory. Seems to keep my computers running smoothly. Never had a problem with it in the year i have used it. I recommend it.
Cons: I can't say anything bad about it.
Summary: It defrags my computers as it should, it does the job quickly and doesn't slow the system down significantly. I always defrag at the end of a day anyway. Before i defrag i use a program called Glary Utilities to clean out the system junk, temporary ... read more >>
