Join your hard drive fragments together into a tight bunch with this freeware. Auslogics Disk Defrag's interface couldn't be any cleaner or easier to use.
Choose a hard drive from an easy-to-read pull-down menu, and Disk Defrag instantly displays the drive's size, and used and free space. The program even displays a pie graph for visual learners. One click starts the defragmentation process. The program's defrag process screen displays another handy visual. A sector map makes it easy to see how much of the drive is fragmented, allocated, or free. As the program churns away, the defragged sectors are displayed in blue.
We found the program fast, even on older XP systems. A handy HTML report is prepared after each defrag session. A summary displays the total files and folders defragged, while the detail section lists the defrag outcome for each file. We only wish a final sector map was included in the report. Novices to system administrators will love this easy-to-use hard drive defrag program.

I use XP & Vista and run this app on both, yes the vista built in version is much better than it's predecessor "but" it still takes ages to run. I like this program for it's simplicity and ease, a very cool app! You will be surprised how good it really is, download now and you won't regret!

Simple to run. Doesn't overwhelm the user with information, but shows that it is alive, and paints an attractive and informative picture of what is going on. Excellent detail report available showing file status. The beg-ware (advertising for products that pay the bills) is not annoying: Reasonably noticeable buy-me links displayed.

Huge cons: 1) does not defrag free space; 2) if it can't find a single chunk of free space big enough for a file, it will not defrag that file. Combine 1 and 2, and you have one very poor defragmenter!
Summary
The cons outweigh the pros -- this program has an incredibly limited algorithm for defragmenting that left my disk 23% fragmented after any number of runs. 1) does not defragment free space, which means that as soon as you're finished defragging, your fragmentation will start going up immediately. 2) does not defrag files it can't find a large enough single chunk of free space for, so most large files will remain in hundreds or thousands of fragments. It's basically a toy.

I've been using Auslogics Disk Defrag ever since a "big" hard drive was 20 gigs. It just keeps getting better. This program just does what it's supposed to do and does it very well.
