Choose a hard drive from an easy-to-read pull-down menu, and Disk Defrag instantly displays the drive's size, and used and free space. The program even displays a pie graph for visual learners. One click starts the defragmentation process. The program's defrag process screen displays another handy visual. A sector map makes it easy to see how much of the drive is fragmented, allocated, or free. As the program churns away, the defragged sectors are displayed in blue.
We found the program fast, even on older XP systems. A handy HTML report is prepared after each defrag session. A summary displays the total files and folders defragged, while the detail section lists the defrag outcome for each file. We only wish a final sector map was included in the report. After using Disk Defrag a few times and being very satisfied I attempted to do a system backup using Ghost. ERROR. Having just done a defrag I thought to try another to see if that would remove the error messages. No luck, and I had no idea how I was going to find EC8B17B7 (or the others) and what I was going to to when I got there. Thought, maybe windows, with it's redundancies mite bail me out.
Ran a Windows defrag followed by a system backup. Worked for some reason. Bottom line: Fast, but may drop a bit or byte here or there -

1. inability to schedule a monthly defrag, the only option available is weekly (more in this later!).
2. annoying comment saying system is not optimized at the end of each defrag - a marketing ploy to sucker people into buying stuff they dont needSummary
this is a great bit of software. the native vista defrag utility is pants compared to this. unlike xp the vista utility went back in time and removed any visual indications as to what the defrag utility is actually doing, they didnt even include a status bar on it either; you have no idea if it will take 10 minutes or 10 hours! auslogics defrag tool brings back a display similar to the one found in xp to monitor what it is doing and an all important status bar to track overall progress. there are 2 reasona i only gave this 4/5; firstly you cannot schedule it to defrag automatically on a monthly basis, the program only offers weekly. i use acronis true image home 2009 to do a weekly incremental backup of my system. i choose incremental because they only back up changes to the system since the last backup so it is a much quicker process - at least it was until auslogics started doing a weekly defrag. as the defrag moves lots of files around whilst sorting them out to make things less cluttered on my system the incremental backups now take nearly as long as a full backup. before using auslogics my incremental backups were relatively small too but now each incremental backup is again almost as big as a full backup which means my precious external hard drive space runs out much more quickly. I could opt to disable auto defrag and do it manually once a month of course but who doesnt like automated what nots with configurable options to suit. on the plus side, vista's default defrag utility scheduler has never worked on my laptop from the day i brought it home from the shop so the very fact this one does work could be construed as a bonus. the other reason i didnt give this 5/5 is because of a blatant marketing ploy, your defrag finishes to find a warning notice in bold red text reading along the lines of 'your system is not optimized'. how can a defrag tool possibly know if it is optimized or not, unless it is also doing something it shouldnt be doing? its great that auslogics provide this software free of course and i like the fact i don't receive a barrage of spam from them trying to sell me this or that software to 'optimize my pc' but i feel that someone a little less computer savvy might be suckered in by the misleading tone of warning message to buy software they don't actually need. i read a recent microsoft security report which highlights 'rogue security' software being on the rise which works on a similar premise - you download a security software free trial, it will tell you your computer is infected when it is not, then you repeatedly get warning messages until the victim either pays for the full version or uninstalls. auslogics marketing technique here does not sound to disimilar as they are also playing on peoples fears there sytem is not optimized when a defrag tool alone cannot possibly be able to determine this. i choose to ignore this message even though i find it morally questionable and i hope everyone who does use and will use this great replacement for vistas defrag tool does too. for any xp users this software is a little better than xp's inbuilt defrag tool but i think still worth a look.

It defragments the disk better than windows does. Also very fast. After defragmenting my hard disk drive using this program, my pc speed-up by 100%+ than previous.
Cons
After defragmenting a specific drive there is no option to go back to the home page of the program. It needs to be closed and start again.
Summary
Actually, this program is suitable for everyone and it is safe to use. This is the best tool I ever found to defragment the hard disk drive.
