BoostSpeed is an effective all-encompassing utility suite, combining some of Auslogics' popular freeware titles such as Disk Defrag and Registry Defrag with services that they don't offer elsewhere. There's an uninstall manager, a startup manager for boot cycle customizations, RAM and browser optimizers, file shredder, DirectX diagnostic, Windows tweak manager, and several mini apps to manage Windows settings. It also comes with a rescue center that can back up any settings before you change them. No doubt, BoostSpeed gives you your money's worth, at least in terms of services provided. Upgrading also only costs $10, for those who own older versions.

Are they all worth paying for? That depends on what kind of user you are. Most, if not all, of these features are available as freeware from one vendor or another, and generally one in each category is top-notch or nearly so. Some of the lesser tools, like the tweaks manager and the security feature, didn't live up to our expectations. Tweaks focused on basic functions and wouldn't serve as a replacement for TweakUI, while the security feature merely let me know that we had up-to-date security apps installed. Still, the convenience of having all these tools located under one umbrella was hard to argue with, and even the tools that didn't impress did their jobs hitch-free.

Scan speeds for the features new to us included here were comparable with those in Disk Defrag. Users also got the convenience of optionally setting the program to run at startup and live in the system tray, making most of the program's functionality no more than a context-menu click away. The most useful tools are the Disk Defrag, the RAM optimizer, the Registry Optimizer--if you believe that "optimizing" the Registry is more than snake oil--the file shredder, and the performance monitor. The 15-day trial comes unfettered, allowing you to thoroughly judge if this is a program you want.

"The best IT clean-up programs that I have used"

September 03, 2009  |  By Pink-Elephant

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 4.5.14.260

Pros

De-frag, cleanup, track eraser, disk wiping and general maintainance program is brillaint. Particularly one-button checkup is quick and easy to use. Auslogics are an honest and worthwhile business.

Cons

One button duplicates some other functions.

Summary

Easy to use. Avoids difficult decisons and makes recommendations. Good upgrades that are FOC. Enabled for more than one PC. Ideal for all home computers in the paid-for version.

"Excellent software; very handy"

September 02, 2009  |  By dkunkelm

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 4.5.14.260

Pros

It's very good. Just the right price for the features included.

Cons

What cons?

Summary

This is quite good. I like the fact that it's an all-in-one tool so you don't have to have so much stuff installed to do the job this does. Too much stuff installed slows your computer down. This tool would be quite handy if the Internet Optimizer tweaker would be able to automatically detect the correct settings (speed, type of connection, etc) of a connection. I think this would be possible but can't say for sure. I like to leave Vista's connection optimizer on for compatibility reasons. I deselect the box in the advanced settings but Internet Optimizer don't remember it the next time I use it. Perhaps settings like this can be set to a custom tweak file or something. Other than that, it's a great addition to my collection.

"ILooking for expected performance? This one's for you!"

August 31, 2009  |  By reb753

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 4.5.14.260

Pros

Actually, there's just too many to list in only 250 characters. Allow me to say though, that I've used every feature (in the paid/registered version, and I have yet to be disappointed with the execution of any one of them.

Cons

This I can definitely answer in the 250 characters allowed: Absolutely not one single con (in my humble, but accurate, opinion) has popped up as yet. Only time will truly reveal whether or not this remains the case, but I think you get my drift.

Summary

Company support couldn't be better or more personalized and attentive. The program delivers exactly as promised, and updates and revisions are often and timely, and are truly beneficial to the operation of the program. Wish I could go on for the 5000 characters permitted here, but there's no point in that - sometimes less IS better! Bottom line is, I'm sure you won't regret looking into obtaining the paid version of this one yourself. To be frank and honest, it's the only one I can review from personal experience. Check it out, and put it through its paces - you'll likely keep it in your "Quick Launch" as do I. There IS more bang for your buck with Auslogics BoostSpeed. See and believe for yourself. There - 'nuff said!

"Does what it says, speeds up Win systems"

August 26, 2009  |  By paulwood35

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 4.5.14.260

Pros

Very intuitive, and easy to use. Cleans the system and does what it says; fairly small footprint. No issues with Win Vista 32-bit.

Cons

Like every piece of software, it can have some improvements, such as tighter integration with "secure shredding" and a quicker access to it's memory optimization feature. Aside from that not major complaints.

Summary

I never try "system enhancement software" that I've never heard of or doesn't come extremely recommended; yet I gave this a whirl and will no doubt purchase a full license to support it's continued development. Excellent product for a decent price. Recommended.
