Auslogics Antivirus 2013's features and performance make it comparable to big-name programs costing much more. In addition to real-time virus protection, Auslogics Antivirus 2013 also includes antimalware, antiphishing, antifraud, update management, and many other features and extras. It's free to try for 30 days.

Pros

Powerful yet low-maintenance: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 is built around robust antivirus and antimalware engines with good test records, but it requires little attention from users, especially in Autopilot mode.

Privacy protection: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 also blocks keyloggers and other threats. Its Vulnerability Scan probes your PC for weak points, evaluates password strength, and helps you secure your personal data from hackers.

Extras: The Autopilot handles security in the background; Auslogics Safepay protects your online banking and shopping activities; a USB Immunizer protects against infected USB drives; and Laptop mode saves power.

Cons

Slow starter: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 was a bit balky to install and required multiple reboots to enable the on-access scanning feature and activate our computer's protection. Updates were slow, despite a healthy broadband connection, and our initial full scan took quite some time, too. However, subsequent scans finished faster, especially Quick Scans.

Bottom Line

Once we'd sorted out the installation, Auslogics Antivirus 2013 lived up to its promise to provide comprehensive protection with little or no impact on our PC's performance or our daily time. We're a bit concerned that the research and effort we needed to solve the on-access scanning issue might discourage the target audience, namely those who don't want a $70 antivirus solution but don't mind paying $30 ($29.95, actually) for ease of use and peace of mind.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Auslogics Antivirus 2013 16.25.

"WARNING You may have to REINSTALL Windows!"

February 25, 2014  |  By GaryOrman

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 16.25

Pros

none, it nearly wiped out my Windows installation!

Cons

I wasn't able to restart my computer after it deleted an "infected" file. Luckily, I happened to have a recent restore point, otherwise I would have had to reinstall Windows and all my software apps from scratch!

DON'T TRY THIS SOFTWARE unless you are very brave, have made a complete backup of your system and save a restore point immediately before installing it!

Summary

I already have boostspeed. I was prompted to install this antivirus product and based on the (what turned out to be meaningless) Microsoft Gold certification, I gave it a try.

It scanned my computer and then told me to restart my computer in order to complete the virus cleaning process before reloading windows.

A got a DOS prompt and a message to say the "infected" file had been deleted. No other message and no information about what exactly had been deleted - and of course no option to quarantine or save the file in case it was a false positive or something.

And then I waited for Windows to reboot.

Nothing.

I tried several times to restart the computer and even though I got the initial Windows logo, all I got was a blank screen and no response from the keyboard or mouse.

I had to hardboot my computer several times before the Windows (8.1) diagnostic menu appeared. There was no way to recover my computer except to refresh Windows (which means a clean re-install with no apps).

The last time I made a manual restore point was a month ago, so I thought I'd try that and risk losing all the installs I had made since then. The restore point I made wasn't there! But luckily there was an automated restore point from earlier in the day. I don't know how that got there, but it saved the day.

It removed Auslogics Antivirus and restarted Windows back to the previous configuration.

I will not use this product again, I don't have the time to be testing software products at the risk of trashing my computer. In fact, I'm now no longer confident in using boostspeed any more. It still seems to work OK, but it seems to remove a lot more that I might want it to. It's probably worth making a backup and restore point before using any Auslogics product in the future!

Beware!

"Not Impressed!"

January 01, 2014  |  By afoundryrat

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 16.25

Pros

Works when it wants to. When it does it isnt that great.

Cons

Not impressed with this program. Something can be said when a company has you download there product from a spam site (cnet). I have owned this program for 9 months. I have to activate it manually 99% of the time. It chooses not to run and support is a joke! I went back to Essentials. They can keep the remaining 3 months.

Summary

If you buy any of there products. Beware of one thing. They will automatically put you on auto pay. I also purchased BootSpeed from these people and they advertise the version 6. This will not download in any of my computers. I have windows vista,xp,7 and 8. Buyer beware.
