BoostSpeed is an effective all-encompassing utility suite, combining some of Auslogics' popular freeware titles such as Disk Defrag and Registry Defrag with services that they don't offer elsewhere. There's an uninstall manager, a startup manager for boot cycle customizations, RAM and browser optimizers, file shredder, DirectX diagnostic, Windows tweak manager, and several mini apps to manage Windows settings. It also comes with a rescue center that can back up any settings before you change them. No doubt, BoostSpeed gives you your money's worth, at least in terms of services provided. Upgrading also only costs $10, for those who own older versions.

Are they all worth paying for? That depends on what kind of user you are. Most, if not all, of these features are available as freeware from one vendor or another, and generally one in each category is top-notch or nearly so. Some of the lesser tools, like the tweaks manager and the security feature, didn't live up to our expectations. Tweaks focused on basic functions and wouldn't serve as a replacement for TweakUI, while the security feature merely let me know that we had up-to-date security apps installed. Still, the convenience of having all these tools located under one umbrella was hard to argue with, and even the tools that didn't impress did their jobs hitch-free.

Scan speeds for the features new to us included here were comparable with those in Disk Defrag. Users also got the convenience of optionally setting the program to run at startup and live in the system tray, making most of the program's functionality no more than a context-menu click away. The most useful tools are the Disk Defrag, the RAM optimizer, the Registry Optimizer--if you believe that "optimizing" the Registry is more than snake oil--the file shredder, and the performance monitor. The 15-day trial comes unfettered, allowing you to thoroughly judge if this is a program you want.

"Boost Speed Does Just That ~ Boost!"

    by Big.Daddy.1124 on January 6, 2007

Pros: I must agree with ww2vet ~ as I usually do ~ Boost Speed is not an App. for the newcomers. However, I found that all the the optimiazation tools to be some of the best on the market; amazing what it does to systems that lack in RAM.

Once again, I find myself wondering if the negative reviews are created by those who enter into their registry without a clue as to the true purpose of a registry cleaner. With that in mind, I suggest to those who feel the need for speed to download this App.

If you don't understand the function of a registry cleaner ~ do not use the registry tools of this App.

Boost Speed made an extremly lacking and old machine run bettter than it did the day it was taken out of the box seven years ago.

I do not agree with any of the negative reviews, espically those that claim Boost Speed slowed their systems down. I have seen no obvious conflicts with any of the other applications on my machine ~ trust me ~ Hundreds of programs it could conflict with, and I have not seen any!

Cons: It needs a more simplified registry cleaning suite, so that those who aren't familiar with registry cleaners can give this wonderful application the five stars it rightfully deserves!

    "Stick with TuneUp Utilities"

    by ghost_pirate on November 12, 2006

Pros: Has several different optimizers to use, including internet booster, startup and shut-down boosters, registry defrag, utility to free memory, and registry cleaner. For me, however, the biggest pro turned out to be that this program creates a system restore point before it does anything.

Cons: After "optimizing" my system with this program, not only was my computer not any faster, but all of my programs failed to open. The program had created a restore point, but I had to do system restore in Safe Mode because nothing in the start menu was working. I ended up having to do this several times because I tried "optimizing" using several different combinations of settings to see if it was user error that caused my programs to be unaccessible. Every combination I tried led to the same results: my programs would only open in Safe Mode. Since TuneUp Utilities does everything this program does, and is proven to be a solid, stable program, I have to suggest sticking with them.

    "Thumbs down"

by SebastianLeer on November 26, 2006

Pros: The idea of speeding up your internet...

Cons: The reality of knowing its not possible to speed up your internet; this is a bad product, I believe it has spyware as well, The "restore point" it creates is useful and it leaves your whole registry backup lying there in your documents, what if you're a new computer user? (it doesnt even work when you try to update your regitry anyway, they did something to the entries that wont let you put it back again) If you try to speed up the internet, it'll block it and the only way to bring it back is disabling your antivirus or killing some processes (thats why I think of spyware) It changes the view of your folders (making em smaller) and you cannot change that on the registry, no matter what, It uninstalled my audio driver and it doesnt matter if I reinstall it, it wont work after you reboot the computer, programs wont open, java wont work, this is a really bad bad bad product, I should sue this guys...
