Pros
The program works fine for the initial testing, until you find out that you need a license to continue.
Cons
The program intentionally adds noise to any sound file after the initial tests unless you purchase a license. When you try to purchase a license and register, you will find the program is no longer supported. You cannot purchase a license, making the program essentially useless. (Why don't they want my money? I was ready to pay for the license.)

It's a pity, because the first tests were great and I wanted to purchase the program. I don't know why people bother to make great software and then refuse to take your money because it's "old." Seems like easy money to me.

Pretty intuitive.
Absolutely accurate to one-hundreth seconds, if you need to trim/create tracks so precisely.
Seems to be able to save unlimited number of scheduled items - e.g. every 54-minute long radio program, ev day, etc. WOW.Cons
Can't sort list of saved actions/schedules.
No apparent way to create dead space for between tracks.
If recording a RA stream, Hijack doesn't know when one RA Player is already open altho it only records the correct source, it's messy.
No auto-trash.Summary
Incredible power and ease of use for a free app - works integrally with iTunes. Beautiful! As is everything from Amoeba, IMHO. (from a happy customer for years!)

Like Airfoil, Audio Hijack is a lovely little bit of kit. It's stable and reliable, and I use it to record streamed media so I can create "podcasts" to listen to later.

Before I got hold of Audio Hijack I'd been recording through my iMic using the high end (and over priced) Bias Peak. It worked OK but barely. Constant problems with managing volume changes via the attached HiFi system and picking up system sounds on my recordings.
For those who've never tried Hijack, I'd say the best thing about the recordings it makes are that the audio is pulled straight off the digital stream directly from the application being hijacked. Therefore it's clean, free from system sounds and the limitations of my analog HiFi. And most importantly, I can change the volume of my speaker output without affecting the recording.
Took a little while to get used to the interface, but it works reliably with every application I've tried to hijack, including: iTunes, Radio365 player, and VLC player.
Since I've already paid for it, I'm comfortable with Bias Peak to split the hours long AIFF files I tend to hijack into svelte sized MP3s for the iPod. Therefore this version suits me well. I'm sure Hijack Pro would have been a much cheaper way to go. (sigh) -

I used to use AH to record BBC Radio 3 over the internet and I was always pleased with the results. Now I use it to record from my new DAB tuner and the recordings are even better.
When I first attempted recording DAB I was unable to get the audio signal from the digital input of my M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card through to AH, so I emailed Rogue Amoeba for advice. I got a very useful response the following day. Their advice helped me progress but not to the stage where I was able to make a recording. It turned out that the fault lay not with Audio Hijack but with the latest update to the M-Audio Delta control panel, so I reinstalled the previous version (1.2.1) and it works superbly.
Audio Hijack even allows me to boost the unprocessed signal used by BBC Radio 3 so that the levels are better.
I use Audio Hijack very often and think it is worth every penny (or cent).
