From Audacity Developer Team :The Audacity Team is pleased to announce the release of Audacity 1.3.3 (beta), which contains numerous new features and capabilities beyond the 1.3.2 (beta) release. Because it is a work in progress and does not yet come with complete documentation or translations into foreign languages, it is recommended for advanced users. For other users, Audacity 1.2.6 is the stable release, complete and fully documented. You can have both Audacity 1.2.6 and 1.3.3 beta installed simultaneously.

Version: Audacity 1.3.3 beta
"Costs nothing, worth nothing."
Pros: Free
Cons: This program is so complicated and non-intuitive that I have so far been totally unable to even make a recording -- not to mention editing one. Needs MUCH WORK to make it workable for a non-geek type. I have not found tutorials even to get someone started with this program. (I was recording and transferring to CD within a few minutes with an inexpensive $$ program, PolderbitS. ) If one cannot figure how to use a program, it is worthless no matter what capabilities it has. I would give this program a zero star rating but c/net won't allow a zero star rating.

Version: Audacity 1.3.3 beta
"Audacity - Beta (Great Upgrade)"
Pros: Audacity is FREE; and is more than what you can ask for...Guess its quite professional Audio Editing for no money. Maybe not as as good as the ones you have to pay and buy like SONY Sound Forge etc...But if you're a beginner or amateur in MUSIC production, you just don't need Sound Forge. Audacity is the answer...
Cons: I'm yet to explore the new features in Beta version.

"best freeware program I've found yet"
Pros: This software has just about every feature of much more expensive software (i.e. Adobe Audition), and is multitrack if setup right. Under preferences (ctrl+p), you can select up to 16 channels for multitrack recording, making this the most fully featured freeware I have ever found.
Cons: nothing to dislike at all. Great freeware, go download it now!!

Version: Audacity 1.3.3 beta
Pros: No where near ProTools but is just ok. It's user friendly and very straight forward.
Cons: There is a time delay when playing back recorded tracks. You can adjust the time lag by shifting the latency correction with a negative amount of seconds. However, i always get the feeling that I'm still a little off at times.
Also sometimes when I apply some of the effects on a track like the echo, Audacity freezes up.
If they would fix the time shift and the buggs this program would be solid.

Version: Audacity 1.3.3 beta
Pros: It really works at the first shot. Is very easy to install, and very easy to work with... Good quality and a wide variety of plugins..effects...
Cons: Is kind od picky with Vista... or Vista is kinda of picky with audio formats for pros and semi pros...
