Publisher's Description
From Lokiware:
Attachment Tamer(Formerly known as Mail Attachments Iconizer) gives you control over attachment handling in Apple Mail. It fixes the most annoying Apple Mail flaws, ensures compatibility with other email software, and allows you to set up how attachments are displayed and sent. Attachment Tamer can: display (and print) images, PDFs, audio and video as icons with an optional file size limit and exceptions, send messages compatible with Microsoft Outlook, Exchange and other software, preventing the superfluous "ATT0001" attachments, send images as regular attachments, making it easier for the recipient to manipulate the image files, send images embedded in HTML layout and safely mix embedded images with other attachments, display full attachment names regardless of length instead of truncated names, prevent unwanted image resizing or set a default size for automatic image resizing.
What's new in this version:
- compatible with OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" (Mail 6.0)
- also still compatible with Mac OS X 10.7, 10.6 and 10.5 including PowerPC Macs
- improved handling of AppleDouble files (usually Mac files with custom icons)
- improved error handling for installer and registration
- option to display full attachment names now works reliably with Asian characters
- various other bugfixes and improvements
- code-signed by an Apple-issued certificate See all new features

"great way to insure compatibility across platforms"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.1.10
Pros
Easy to install, regular updates to software, and removes issues with MAC mail attachments (especially Microsoft) that do not show up on PC mail clients.
Cons
None: works as advertised.
Summary
This is an excellent product that does what it promises and maximizes compatibility across different platforms and e-mail clients.

"not installing"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.1.9
Pros
There are no pros in my case.
Cons
The installer app is not installing anything, and the support email id is non responsive for over 3 days. I'm not exactly thrilled.
I use OS X 10.8.2 and Mail 6.2. -
"Excellent, must-have!"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.0.3
Pros
Finally makes clunky Mac email program work much more smoothly, with respect to handling attachments. They are displayed as icons at the top of the incoming email, and I can choose whether to look at them or not. Other display options available too.
Cons
Version 3.02 had major bug; version 3.03 fixed that & works fine now. Excellent customer support from the developer!
Summary
I have been using Iconizer, the previous name of this wonderful little program, for several years, almost since I got my macbook in 2008. It has always worked fine. I was prompted to upgrade to Attachment Tamer a few weeks ago, version 3.02 at that time. This caused a huge problem in that I was no longer able to either reply to or forward any email that came with attachments -- clicking on either of those commands did not even bring up the mail window; nothing at all. After scouring forums to no avail, I simply wrote an email to Adam Noheji, the developer, & explained my problem. He responded within a few hours and advised me to download the next version, 3.03, which immediately cleared up the problem. So here are two wonderful things: the software works great, and the customer support is exemplary! Apple's email program is pretty awful on several levels, but at least now, with Attachment Tamer, there is one less thing to gnash my teeth about.
Addendum: Using OSX 10.5.8 (Leopard)

"Must have Mail.app plugin!"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.0
Pros
Great Support
Stable
Solid performance
Tight integration
Super-fair upgrade policy!!!Cons
None that I can think of!
Summary
Been using it so long in combination with Mail.app I can't imagine what it would be like to use Mail without it!
This is a solid, ever-evolving Mail.app plugin. As a switcher, and once heavy user of Outlook, this tool solves a lot of the issues that I had in regards to attachments in Mail.app. Have been using it, and its previous incarnations from the beginning. Happy with its performance, and support, when needed, has always been prompt & truly helpful. Love the new features in V3, particularly handling rogue ATT attachments that seems to find there way into messages when viewed by Windows users. -
"Great app that does what it says it will do"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.0
Pros
Very simple app that really makes life better for my Windows dependent friends.
Cons
None...I love it.

"Attachment Tamer 3.0 - One great update!"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.0
Pros
Suppression of attachments, unless wanting to visualize. It is just so sweet how well it works.
Cons
I see nothing to complain about. Attachment Tamer is perfect and a much needed addition to Mail.app.
Summary
This latest major release (3.0) is by far the cleanest looking interface of all, as I have used version 1.x and 2.x. Little used settings were removed and great new ones added. I particularly like having the ability to show the attachments at the top of the message. One simple right click on an icon and you have your attachment in all its glory. This is if you want to see an attachment. Many times you do not and that is where Attachment Tamer shines. Best of all, it is free to version 1.x and 2.x registered users.

"Fabulous! Couldn't live without it. Whither Apple?"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.0
Pros
I use Mail for business and having full-size images and documents obscures my company's logo and branding. It also makes for unprofessional looking email.
Cons
Why doesn't Apple include with Mail?
Summary
I install every update immediately.

"App is a lifesaver!"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.0
Pros
Makes Apple mail attachments appear for PC users
Cons
None that I know of
Summary
An important client (who uses Outlook) kept having problems receiving my attachments. It was becoming such a hassle I was afraid I'd lose that business. This little app makes my attachments into files that she can see, rather than putting them in line like Apple mail does. Attachment Tamer saved me a client!

"Makes Apple Mail Work Right!"
Version: Attachment Tamer 3.0
Pros
Good control over options.
Makes reading email from Outlook users much easier - no extra clicks or steps to see attachments in their native state.
Awesome support from developer.
Once you set it, you forget it's thereCons
None that I can think of
Summary
I've been a user since Attachment Tamer was called Mail Attachments Iconizer v.1. Only had one issue with a poorly formatted email newsletter. Adam (the developer) worked through a solution with me in a very short time. Can't imagine using Mail without this very well integrated enhancement.
