When you need something more powerful than the Windows' built-in uninstaller, Ashampoo UnInstaller may be the solution. The program both installs and removes software and also offers basic cleanup tools for deleting cookies, fonts, broken shortcuts, Internet Explorer add-ons, duplicate files, and empty folders.
Using the installer module to add new applications makes the most sense, as it creates a log file that will then be used by the uninstaller to remove every trace. This process could've been smoother, but it does work as advertised. You also can uninstall non-logged applications in a similar fashion to the Add/Remove Programs function included in Windows. The other modules work well but seem like afterthoughts since they have little to do with the program's core functionality, excepting the Find/Remove Empty Folders tool. The program also offers an Expert mode for additional control of various processes.
Though it's a far cry from essential, Ashampoo UnInstaller does an excellent job if you take the time to configure it. It's not the best bet for newbies, but we recommend it to power users and pros who demand ultimate control over their systems.
Publisher's description
From Ashampoo :Uninstall programs right and stop Windows slowdown. The longer you use Windows the slower it gets. Your hardware isn't getting slower - it's Windows that's getting clogged up. One of the main reasons for this is garbage left over by programs that don't get removed properly. Lazy programmers think that what you don't see doesn't hurt you and so they only include the main program components in the Uninstall entry in the Windows Control Panel. The rest isn't visible but it's still there, adding more and more unnecessary ballast to your Windows setup with every program you remove. Many programs leave hundreds of Registry entries, files and even drivers and Windows services in place after they have been uninstalled.

Version: Ashampoo UnInstaller Platinum 2.8
"the first platinum suite is good enough for me"
Pros: I didn't test this version but if it looks in any way like it's predecessor it must be great.
There are 2 kinds of uninstallers. The kind that actively monitors an installation and the kind that works with snapshots. I guess this programm wil work with snapshots (dunno), like the version i use. This has a few big advantages:
1: the uninstaller can't conflict with what it is monitoring.
2: the uninstaller can monitor anything u want, even after a reboot.
3: the uninstaller becomes more then an uninstaller: a diagnostic tool.
It's the diagnostic quality i realy like about the uninstallersuite, because i don't like 2 uninstall programs anyway (i rather restore a backup). Uninstalling is always a last option for me, and to be honest i think that in most cases the native uninstaller wil be best. Nevertheless the uninstallersuite i have stays on my XP system because it gives me insight in the things i put on it. Every programminstall or major change i made on my system has it's own uninstaller logfile, so i exactly know what happened on my system, and that is the great power of this utility.

"Ashampoo simply delivers what it promises and more."
Pros: It is the only uninstall software that REALLY cleans up the uninstall procedure and does not put extra ones on the disk.

Version: Ashampoo UnInstaller Platinum 2.8
"Fantastic idea but a total Disaster"
Pros: Concept is good if it worked.
Cons: If the installation needs a reboot the ashampoo logging monitor does not re-apear to complete the process. I had to reinstall vista because Ashampoo corrupted the registry on a logged uninstall. BETA quality software

Version: Ashampoo UnInstaller Platinum 2.8
Pros: You bet it's a typical "Ashampoo" app. It looks good and is supposed to be "Vista" compatible but it did more harm then good on my machine. Defiantly, not recommended.
Cons: Typically, you can get it way cheaper then the $49.99 price tag. That is as long as you love spam. This company is a spammer from hell. "McAfee Site Adviser", out ant out right blocks "Internet Explorer" and "Firefox" from connecting to their website. Imagine that! The app just is not effective. The thing adds junk to your start menu and the junk (install monitor) is nothing more then a pain in the a~~. It does not clean up the registry after the uninstall. It's just not worth the headache to try this app and worse, to get involver with "Ashampoo". Hell, I thought they were getting better and wrote a couple of good reviews for them but I was wrong. Better to keep clear of these spammers!
