Ashampoo Antispyware has been given a major-point upgrade, and there's no doubt that it looks better. But is version 2 worth the $30 tag?
The program has a bothersome registration process required for downloading, something that's unfortunately becoming more common these days. However, it also has a generous 40-day trial period. The tabbed interface looks good and is clearly labeled, making navigation intuitive. The main window shows you Active functions, and one click lets you Deactivate them. The right-side column contains scan Statistics, spyware-signature file version and a link to updates, and quick links to run all the major scans.
The left-side tabs manage the Scans, Quarantine, Logs, Preferences, and Tools. There are a host of features in the last two, from whitelists and schedulers to an Internet tracks cleaner and an LSP Viewer to help manage WinSock extensions. Scan options include a full system scan--prepare for a long wait--as well as options to slice that into specific types of scans such as hard drive or Registry-only. We encountered zero problems when mucking about. No viruses were found, either.
However, there've been numerous false positive complaints, and scans detect all of your Internet cookies as minor threats. Still, Ashampoo Antispyware is a breeze to handle and has most of the antispyware angles covered.

Having run a full computer scan for possible infections, the program will remove the infected files immediately. A permanent active background scanner will notify you in advance and offer real-time protection for the computer. While connected to the internet the program makes sure that new malware wont have any chance to enter your system through the back door. Virus definitions on more than 760,000 threats are already included you will be protected against. Virus signatures will be updated online on a regular basis so that your weapon never gets blunt.
Version 2 features: real-time protection of all relevant processes, an integrated task scheduler for automated scanning, is now fully compatible with Windows Vista.
Note: In order to use the trial version of the program, you will have to register for free on the developer's site.

Version: Ashampoo AntiSpyWare 2
Pros: Although I believe this is best version yet, it still has a few bugs. Ashampoo works with "EmsiSoft" on this application but thats a good thing. With the good choices is software of this type being reduced all the time, this is a good product that will get better with time. With this version, you know the shields work because you do get pop ups that you didn't see in older versions. But I have a problem with "Ashampoo".
Cons: I own a paid copy of the last version thats good until next year but my license code will not work with version 2. That in itself sucks. They want $13.50 to upgrade. Whet the hell? This is the only company that hes ever done that to me. I got so mad, I uninstalled this application and unsubscribed to "Ashampoo" emailing. Shoot, I always considered their emails spam anyway. This is bad business "Ashampoo' and not cool at all! You can keep it, stuff it where the sun don't shine and I'll stick with "Counter Spy".

"nice little program version 2 is much better/ works for vista"
Pros: what can i say ashampoo antispyware 2 is much better then spyware doctor and spyweeper....and all of the spyware programs....first its really easy to install and it updates aight away....it found 4 high infections 1 a cooking and backdoor.win32.rbot.gen....and backdoor.win32.robt......and heuristic Dialer.rns. and if u have vista u get to add the ashampoo antispyware 2 gadget....were u can control the program from there....really good....and it loads up with windows too so it can download the updates.....but dose not scan....wish is a good thing.....
Cons: my pc is faster now....i knew there was something wrong but now its all gone thanks to ashampoo antispyware 2.....if u have vista it works great no bugs....but the only thing i found is that the full system scan takes 63 mins and 25 secs......

"Took all day to run a scan. Froze up my system."
Pros: Has a pretty interface
Cons: After running the scan and rebooting, All my Vista Ultimate tray items stopped working. I had to reboot into safe mode to uninstall this thing.

"Excellent, a big step for Ashampoo"
Pros: I wonīt say thatīs the best Ani-spy. ever because I havenīt tasted them all but itīs certainly the best Iīve known. Plenty of resources , not only delivers a powerful scan and real time protection but also provides other otimizing tools to improve the overall performance of your PC . Despite the 22.46 MB, pratically doesnīt interfere in the system during the scan .The program found a backdoor trojan in the machine that none of other anti spy. or antivirus had detected for me .
Cons: It causes some delay to initialize when the real time protection is on .
