Ashampoo Antispyware has been given a major-point upgrade, and there's no doubt that it looks better. But is version 2 worth the $30 tag?
The program has a bothersome registration process required for downloading, something that's unfortunately becoming more common these days. However, it also has a generous 40-day trial period. The tabbed interface looks good and is clearly labeled, making navigation intuitive. The main window shows you Active functions, and one click lets you Deactivate them. The right-side column contains scan Statistics, spyware-signature file version and a link to updates, and quick links to run all the major scans.
The left-side tabs manage the Scans, Quarantine, Logs, Preferences, and Tools. There are a host of features in the last two, from whitelists and schedulers to an Internet tracks cleaner and an LSP Viewer to help manage WinSock extensions. Scan options include a full system scan--prepare for a long wait--as well as options to slice that into specific types of scans such as hard drive or Registry-only. We encountered zero problems when mucking about. No viruses were found, either.
However, there've been numerous false positive complaints, and scans detect all of your Internet cookies as minor threats. Still, Ashampoo Antispyware is a breeze to handle and has most of the antispyware angles covered.

Version: Ashampoo AntiSpyWare 1.61
Pros: I read a review that said they recieved an email promoting version 2 of this app. I chwcked my "Ashampoo" email box,(LOL!) and found the same email. This app signature file has a partner, a-squared. ww2 was correct in his review. This app comes bundled with false positives. It's heavy on memory and CPU. The beta version almost crashed my "Vista" machine. Don't do it.
Cons: I hate trolls, bad software and bad vendors. If you like this app, think, because you can get it free! I chalked this up to $10 down the tubes. "Grisoft", your next!

Version: Ashampoo AntiSpyWare 1.61
Pros: It's a multi task application.
Also, Ashampoo will both offer its products at knock-down prices or auction them in a bidding process. I bought the application under review here, in one of its knock-down price offers.
Cons: I purchased this software 3 months ago with a two year update subscription and use it weekly. It does detect spyware and cookies. I also use its many other features too.
Yes, McAfee Site Advisor does show up red on the Ashampoo website. However, many if not all the best leading computer magazines quite frequently include Ashampoo products in their software reviews. It's hard to imagine them doing so if this software developer is distinctly dodgy and corrupt.

Version: Ashampoo AntiSpyWare 1.61
Pros: It does the job - not sure how well compared to other products.
Cons: Takes ages to update via a dial-up connection and sometimes requires a few goes.

"Ashampoo works well with other spyware programmes"
Pros: I first used the free version alongside spybot and spyware doc to see what was found by each setup which is easy to install and run all three work really well together I am spyware free in the begining of the three spdoc was the faster but ashampoo found more spyware in the begining spbot is great for different fixes .For what it costs it does a reasonable job I still use all three and my system is spyware free as i did a check with webroot spyware after cleaning with my 3 it found none so it works give it a chance no comment on Vista still with Win XP.
Cons: It is slow in comparison with the others but it does a good job
