Ashampoo Antispyware has been given a major-point upgrade, and there's no doubt that it looks better. But is version 2 worth the $30 tag?
The program has a bothersome registration process required for downloading, something that's unfortunately becoming more common these days. However, it also has a generous 40-day trial period. The tabbed interface looks good and is clearly labeled, making navigation intuitive. The main window shows you Active functions, and one click lets you Deactivate them. The right-side column contains scan Statistics, spyware-signature file version and a link to updates, and quick links to run all the major scans.
The left-side tabs manage the Scans, Quarantine, Logs, Preferences, and Tools. There are a host of features in the last two, from whitelists and schedulers to an Internet tracks cleaner and an LSP Viewer to help manage WinSock extensions. Scan options include a full system scan--prepare for a long wait--as well as options to slice that into specific types of scans such as hard drive or Registry-only. We encountered zero problems when mucking about. No viruses were found, either.
However, there've been numerous false positive complaints, and scans detect all of your Internet cookies as minor threats. Still, Ashampoo Antispyware is a breeze to handle and has most of the antispyware angles covered.

Version: Ashampoo AntiSpyWare 1.20
Pros: Downloaded this software and installed it (with so many good reviews, I just downloaded and installed it to see how it would run)
The interface is nice
Cons: other than that it found 1 spyware cookie and it took over a half an hour to scan my computer. I wouldn't recommend this software, I think there are way better antispywares out there, some for free.

Version: Ashampoo AntiSpyWare 1.20
"A comprehensive antispyware product"
Pros: This software has a great interface and is easy to understand and use (like all Ashampoo software) In addition, the automatic update features are excellent as is the back up service from Ashampoo. I use two other antispyware programmes and this product has detected many potential threats missed by the others. I would still however recommend using at least two antispywares. This progamme also includes rootkit detection which is a big plus in light of the recent fiasco involving a major record company.
Cons: Takes a long time to do a full scan but is this not really a bad thing given the depth of the scan. Faster, more selective options are available for quick scans. (for example a registery scan takes only a few seconds)

Version: Ashampoo AntiSpyWare 1.20
Pros: "Ashampoo AntiSpyWare" look to be solid, as a cover. The software its okey.., as a cookie hunter! That's all!
Cons: Troublesome in other ways. It doesn't to be all okey, really! Its picking up "possible traits" into a random, as one example by many.
To rub it in.., this software is faraway from the usually overwhelming reputations by "SpywareBlaster" and "Spyware Doctor" to boot! These softwares is superior against the german Ashampoo product!

"Good all-around product - does it's job!"
Pros: Ease of use, and despite the time it takes for a full scan (about an hour on my machine)it always finds spyware, although 99% of the time, it's always cookies.
Cons: All the cookies it finds is from Mozilla Firefox, but I don't see the name of the cookies.
