An entire universe that fits in your pocket? Role-playing game fans will find this action-packed fantasy universe doesn't suffer because of its smaller format. Arvale: Journey of Illusion is both creatively conceived and impressively designed, and with some 20 hours of game time, should keep even the most devoted players entertained on those long train commutes home. We are especially impressed that the world is fully interactive--you can talk to every dragon and warlock that comes your way. There is a wealth of items with which to arm or feed your hero, including plenty of potions, weapons, and other armor. Graphically, Arvale: Journey of Illusion is not the most up to date, but the quality fits the genre and given the format, is actually quite impressive. Buttons resemble burnished silver, while other screen details (creepy dank caves, verdant forests) truly put you in the magical world. The soundtrack is entertaining but can be turned off if desired. Overall, fantasy warriors should enjoy this download as we did--great gameplay, fantastic scenery, and plenty of challenge.
