Publisher's Description
From Arachnoid:
Arachnophilia is a successor to WebThing, a popular HTML editor. This robust application can import and automatically convert RTF documents, tables, and outlines from any Windows 95-compliant application to HTML. It also supports up to six Web browsers, CGI, frames, Perl, C++, Java, and JavaScript development. Other features include a built-in, intelligent FTP client; automatic uploading of changed files; user-defined templates; user-customizable toolbars for quick access to frequently used tags; global search and replace; and a multiple-document interface with full drag-and-drop capabilities. In addition, Arachnophilia includes built-in tutorials on HTML development, JavaScript, frames, and the Internet.
This version features minor improvements and bug fixes.

"Excellent editor"
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Pros
Easy to use. Fairly intuitive. Reliable and robust. Free.
Cons
Some Windows users may find interface a bit odd.
Summary
Worth also checking out Arachnophilia 4, the last Windows based version, which is still available from arachnoid.com

"Great"
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Pros
I've used other versions of Arachnophilia, but was not sure if this one would work on Vista or not. It does. What I like best about it is that it doesn't interfere with what I'm trying to do. I don't like wizards much, and prefer to do all my own tags. Other editors I've tried since I've had Vista (and there haven't so far been many of them) try to finish my tags for me, and I find that annoying.

"exe file? What exe file?"
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Cons
I extracted all of the files in the archive in the Arachnophilia folder, but still didn't see any exe file. Nor did I see a readme file that would explain what the hell you're supposed to do to open the damn thing.
I've been using Arachnophilia for years, and it used to be my favourite HTML editor, but not anymore. I'm going to search for something else to download.

"GOOD BUT PREVIOUS VERSIONS WERE BETTER"
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Pros
It is free and almost easy
Cons
the previous non java versions were better and easier I think but if you are looking for a free program of its kind it is ok.

"Simple yet powerful"
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Pros
the user interface was nice and fairly simple to navigate. You can create different types of pages on the fly - php, javascript, etc. I also like the beautify code feature and the FTP service built in.
Cons
Still using the program and besides a few annoying moving toolbars, I can't complain

"Very very good & easy to use on smaller memory laptop"
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Pros
Allows you to see the web page at the same time as/alongside your input, makes a difference to those extravagant programs that shows the web page separately & then you tiresomely have to page back to your input. (And I still use version 4!) Remembers the size of window you were using; use with any browser, including its own internal one; low memory consumption 'small footprint!' but sophisticated with it.
Cons
Could provide more keyboard shortcuts.

"Great free HTML editor, no adware and feature rich"
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Pros
Arachnophilia is feature rich and is free, what could be better. The program has a very nice Beautify HTML feature. Also, there is a nice table editor and a lot of customizability. In fact, the program is one of the customizable programs I have ever seen.
In addition to HTML, it can also be used to edit most common programming languages.
Cons
In some ways the UI of the program is a little unfriendly. This is part because of its vast array of features. Also, the lack of some context menu functionality is sometimes annoying. Still a good program.

"4.0 works, 5.2 won't open"
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Pros
4.0 works but not supported?
Cons
I downloaded Arachnophilia 4.0 which opened and worked great. As seen on the web site 4.0 is not supported and 5.2 should be downloaded. When I downloaded 5.2 it would not open up. I read, read, re-read, read, and re-read again the instructions, and re-installed it. Still 5.2 will not open. After 2 weeks+ I e-mailed the gentleman who wrote the program for a little insight. The one line answer was, "Do all the steps" These were done, for 2 weeks!! There are other products for free download to write HTML if you look around. If you enjoy irritation use this.

"Used to be easy to use..."
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Summary
Now it absolutely sucks.
The creator had made a perfectly good user friendly html editor. Then he decided he hated microsoft so much he would create it using java instead. You now have to go to the command prompt just to load the thing.
I'm looking elsewhere....I've got a copy of FrontPage somewhere. -
"Could do more."
Version: Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902
Summary
I decided to search for an HTML editor to increase productivity. You see I program in C#, and I know how to code in HTML with nothing but a text program. That said programmers like me are notoriously lazy, we like or editors to do things for us. I started thinking and said hey, a good HTML editor should be like SharpDeVelop or UltraEdit. Not so my friend. While the proggy highlights text thats about all it does. It's not smart enough to try to auto complete language for you, or automatically enter a closing brace, bracket, parenthesis, or arrow. Not as handy as it could be. I get more functionality out of my progrmming tools.
