"Needs an update!"
Version: Apple iWeb 3.0.2
Pros
Very easy to use web site creation software.
Cons
Hasn't seen an update in maybe three years.
Summary
Would love it if Apple would update this program.
It is very quick and easy to use. Lay out web pages in a jiffy. Trouble is, you cannot modify the automatic links it creates, not even to change their color. No site-wide style sheets. No drop-down menus. No image switchers. No lightbox-type effects. A little tweaking would bring this program up-to-date. Please, Apple? -
"Flawless !"
Version: Apple iWeb 3.0.2
Pros
Simple, straightforward and very easy to use. Great integration with iWork and the web page is very easy to update.
Cons
No issue so far on my iMac with Snow Leopard.

"Re: UNEXPECTED PERMISSIONS CHANGE"
Version: Apple iWeb 3.0.2
Pros
Haven't even launched iweb update yet
Cons
Same as dpmiller on September 7, 2010
Summary
After update of iWeb 3.0.2 - together with Safari 5.0.2 - Group permissions on applications folder have been changed from ADMIN read/write to WHEEL read-only.
Easy enough to fix but grateful to dpmiller for posting as I was at a loss where this unsolicited change had come from!
Hopefully Apple will read and remember that some of us are still using Leopard... -
"WARNING - ALERT APPLE - UNEXPECTED PERMISSIONS CHANGE"
Version: Apple iWeb 3.0.2
Pros
I'm Working in a room full of Leopard and Snow Leopard Macs. After iWeb 3.0.2 install, Applications folder is locked. (Specifically, admin user permissions replaced by wheel user. I've replicated. Only seems to hit Leopard machines.
Cons
INSTALLER BUG
Summary
OK, here's a followup. After update of iWeb 3.0.2 - alone or as part of a larger group of updates - permissions on applications folder have been changed. Even Admin users need to authenticate to add or remove items. Note that permissions of folders INSIDE the applications folder remain unchanged. Specifically, ADMIN user group, with read/write permissions is deleted and replaced with WHEEL as read only. East y work around by re-adding an admin group, but REALLY looks like it should not be happening. Have now confirmed on seven Leopard Macs, (6 intel, one PPC) - All running Leopard 10.5.8. Also have confirmed that bug DOES NOT occur in Snow Leopard. (Tiger can't run iLife 09 and iWeb 3, so bug not relevant.) If anyone has inside contact info at Apple, please let them know!
