AoA DVD Ripper sports an interface simple enough to use without consulting the Help file and powerful enough to batch rip DVDs and convert them for portable devices all in one fell swoop. It can also rip specific and user-defined scenes from movies, making it eminently useful in grabbing a particular scene for further study or enjoyment.
The spreadsheet layout is complemented not by tabs, as is the current style, but by helpful numbered buttons and steps. Export formats include the basics like AVI, WMV, and MPEG, as well as FLV, MP4, VCD, and SVCD. You can also use it to extract audio tracks, great for grabbing those memorable quotes. The audio codec used is user-determined, as is the video codec, giving the solid program a bit of a boost in the customization department. You can also set the aspect ratio and tweak other settings if need be.
Users have noted that their customer service has been quick and responsive in the past, and that the registration code works for at least several upgrades--if not longer. Pros
Support the various formats I use: DVD to DivX/MP4. Allow for low-to-high quality (bitrate, sample rate, etc.) Fast enough. Nice and intuitive interface. I've tried 6 of these rippers, and I prefer the AoA by far.
Cons
Cannot preview film screen from within the program to select video starting & ending frames. This would make it a lot easier for me to locate the clips I need.
Summary
The conversion of the video clips ripped from my favorite dvd movies was problem-free and I can see them anytime on my iPad. Nice job.

None. Hands down the worst CNET download with which I ever wasted my time.
Cons
Installs a variety of toolbars and other items whether you decline them at installation or not.
Summary
Avoid this program. It caps the ripped file at 10 minutes worth of video and it takes 1/2 hour to remove all the addons/toolbars/etc. that it includes with the installation.

My only criticism is that the output directory doesn't remember, meaning for each subsequent rip you have to drill back down, a minor inconvenience.
Summary
This is an outstanding product. Video apps are notoriously finicky, depending on your set-up, and I have tried many, many apps like this, and they all had their downfalls. This one hits the sweet spot of performance and price.

Very simple to use.
I had an initial problem, because I was using an incorrect format. Issue was instantly diagnosed by the friendly support service.
Output quality is great, even on 10 inch tablet screen, with 1.5-2.0 hour rip time for 1 hour viewing.
Using the ipad/kindle fire format gave horribly long rip time (8 hour rip for 1 hour view). Switch to avi format (per support suggestion) resolved.

Even if you say no to all the prompts, this piece of crap loads your computer with plenty of malware. This program is a pile of trash -- once it is installed it still doesn't work. Now I have to figure out how to rid my computer of this snap.do search engine crap. Thanks for nothing AoA Media. CNET - I'm disappointed you allowed downloads filled with malware to be available on your site. Do not install this on your machine.

This program is fast, easy to use, and turns out an excellent quality file. It works properly with Windows7, which really says something. Another advantage is that you can choose to preserve closed caption titles in the video or video clip.
Cons
Very simple. I think they should have some editing functions as well inside this program.
Summary
I had honestly tried a few programs and gave up on the idea of being able to convert my recorded DVDs to avi format that my computer would understand, but this program finally did the job for me! Its also very easy to use, took me only a few minutes to figure out how to get an avi that windows media player could play.
