Except for one sour note, this audio extractor freeware has perfect pitch. AoA Audio Extractor's interface smartly resembles a media player. Simply add video files through a traditional browse dialog box. Choosing an output option is as easy as pressing a radio button. The output is limited to the big three in audio: MP3, WAV, and AC3. Bit rates, sample rate, and channels are easily selected from handy pull-down menus.
We like that you can choose your favorite settings once, and then forget about them. Extraction is easy (just hit the Start button), and file conversion is nearly instantaneous. Occasionally, AoA Audio Extractor clipped the last couple of seconds off the end of a converted MP3 file. We never experienced such a problem with WAV files, however.
You won't find all kinds of bells and whistles on this software, and they're not needed. Novices will appreciate how easy it is to use, and advanced users will love how quickly it converts. If you have a need to extract the audio from a video file, this freeware will be a smash hit.

Version: AoA Audio Extractor 1.1.6
Pros: Fast, configurable, accurate, and inexpensive. I've only tried two of these rippers, Acala and AoA, and I prefer the AoA by far. I won't need to try any others since this one does a great job.
Cons: None.

Version: AoA Audio Extractor 1.1.6
Pros: For one it's free. It works 1st time, every time. Super simple interface that actually makes sense to the most novice of users. It does not crash my system. Conversion goes smooth and fast. Converts most media to mp3, wav or ac3.
Cons: Will only convert to mp3, wav or ac3, but really, is that a bad thing? Audio quality from the source is fairly accurate, but for free, you really can't complain.
Summary: I've been trying to find a specific song, but could not find it on iTunes, and the CD is out of print. Using "download helper" to save a video from You Tube and then using AoA Audio Extractor to convert it to mp3 was a snap. I now have my song. And ... read more >>
