"It's a great video converter and no adware."

    by wetfin1 on November 30, 2007

Pros: It's a great video concerter with no adware for people who can't afford much with a small buget. It's really easy to use too. I think it's a bit slow but for a given is a blissing.

Cons: There's nothing not to like.

    "Could Be Good.............."

    by au79scorpion on November 5, 2007

Pros: Interface was easy to understand and use, BUT..............

Cons: conversion seemed to have went fast (Divx to avi) but when I tried to open the folder I made just to put the finished product into it kept crashing my system, I tried to un-install and had to delete it in3 places, run a registry restructure program, run a "orphan" file remover program AND do a system restore to make it quit crashing one of my HDDs.(I run windows xp pro; w/media center and use a pentium D ,SATA motherboard and 4gigs of ram,4- 500 gig HDDs , it almost made me lose hundreds of hours of hard work and video that could not be replaced)!!! BEWARE OF THIS IF YOU HAVE IMPORTANT STUFF TO PROTECT!

"Finally a free converter which actually works"

    by 49503 on November 4, 2007

Pros: This is the ONLY TRULY FREE video conversion program of those I've yet tried which actually works and isn't "crippleware" -- that is to say, with time limits or watermarks or other things which make it virtually useless unless one upgrades to the premium version of the program. I know they have a "pro" version for sale with additional features, but the important thing to me is that the free version is capable of doing all I was looking for without upgrading -- as all free programs should be capable of or they should be labeled as something OTHER than free. In fact, it easily converted some RM files to another format, as it's the only free program I've thus far tried which has been able to do, converting the entire file and not just the first minute, or 70% of it, or whatever, as some falsely labelled "free" converters do, which should actually be labelled as "trial" versions, which is what they really are, rather than truly "free programs". I'm very satisfied for the price paid, and I hope they sell many copies of the "pro" version for those whose needs may be more demainding than my own.

Cons: Only a couple of minor issues. First, in order to see all the options, it's necessary to convert my screen to a higher resolution than I prefer to generally use for other purposes. But this isn't a serious problem as it's easy enough to change the resolution as needed.

And secondly, the program converts the RMs to MPEGs of a MUCH larger file size than the original file, and I haven't found a way to reduce the output file size to something more closely approximating the original file (although I could be overlooking something). So in order to get a file of more manageable size, I have to reload the converted files into another program which converts them to a smaller size in the WMV format -- which is perfact for my needs. Of course, It would be better if I didn't have to go through this secondary step, but as I don't have a great number of files I need to convert at any given time, this doesn't add significantly to the overall procssing time. So, for a free program that's able to help me accomplish exactly what I wanted, I'm not complaining. Therefore, I'm not deducting a single star from my rating over these minor issues. In fact, come to think of it, this rating is based on an earlier version, and I'm about to install the latest version, which may well work even better for me for all I Know, although of course that remains yet to be seen.

As for needing 200 BG of RAM, as tuba2007 has suggested (200 GB???? I sure hope that was a typo! :), in fact, my computer is rather memory-starved by recent standards, with only 128 MB (Yes, thats MEGABYTES, NOT gigabytes :), and I've noticed noproblems with a shortage of memory while running it. Of course, with such limited memory, I don't attempt to run any other programs which I don't need while this one is running, but that's as once would expect with a system with a minimal amount of RAM.

    "Work's Great"

by lpsidler on October 30, 2007

Pros: The best things about this software are its ability to convert many formats (love that it works with divx files) and that it is free. Also the software has many options before you convert (audio/video bitrate, resolution, video size, etc.)

Cons: Some files cannot be converted, and some videos come out looking great but the audio isn't in sync! (if you want to convert all your videos to work on your ipod download Videora Converter, it converts everything to mp4 and in sync perfectly)
