Version: Anonymizer Anonymous Surfing 6
Pros: There are a bevy of anonymous surfing programs out there that use public proxy servers, but there is no way to know when those servers (some in places like Turkey and Iran) are actually fronts for malware operators who collect your IP or even plant malware on your computer! The main reason I like Anonymizer is that they own their own servers--your guarantee that you aren't getting scammed.
Another reviewer said Anonymizer slows his surfing down badly. I have not had that experience. I have a high-speed connection (cable). I notice a VERY slight slowly but hardly noticeable, I had to pay attention closely to notice it at all and sometimes there is no slowing at all.
Cons: The Download.com reviewer is right about lengthy download and install time. Installation on my XP system took six full minutes and that doesn't count the download time. There's 31 megs of code so I don't know why you would expect it to take any less, however. You can't have it all.

"Stay Away From This Product, even the Trial Version!"
Pros: I'm still looking to find something good here.
Cons: There's so many problems/issues here, where do I start!
1: The program creates an ASP.NET account
under Windows! Why and for what reason
if you're not using MS .NET programs.
Only the computer owner should be able
to do this!
2: Why such a short trial period ?!? Most
other software gives you a few weeks.
This one is only 7 days!
3: THIS IS THE WORST ISSUE! After
installing the program, and you're
online, the entire system stops to
CRAWL while moving from one website to
another. This is on a 1GHZ, 512meg
system.
4: Once you decide you don't want this
product, there's NO un-install function
within the program to get rid of it!
WHY !?!
Overall rating: Stay Away!

Version: Anonymizer Anonymous Surfing 6
"Anonymous Surfing worth a try."
Pros: The program is simple to use and worked well for my system (Intel P4 3.0GHZ/512MB Memory/XP Pro/DSL 400kbs) "DOWNLOAD.com, there should be a way of conveying what kind of system, Reviewer's have." Granted, this program may preform differently on your system, but give it try, you have nothing to loose, and security to gain. 7 days was long enough to test this program, but for the freebie crowd, Anonymiser gives you 30 days of free limited usage. As for the 30+MB file size, SO WHAT! many of you wait endlessly to download, movies/program suites/porn & more, with no complaints. If you like to visit "Warez" type websites this program may not be right for you.
Cons: * Tech support has limited hours & email response seems slow, but they do have an 800 number & offer free support (which is a plus).
* No user forums.
* Would be nice if the system tray icon changed color or something to notify the user of a problem, or unprotected status.
* They offer several products, and it would be helpful to see a chart showing the advantages of each.
The program randomly stopped protecting and I didn't know until I opened the programs main window, but this might be an issuse with my system. If you want better protection look for a proxy tunneling service or a VPN. I've personally decided to use Anonymiser's "Total Net Shield" due to my need to have more then just my brower(s) protected & the unresolved issue of the random stopping of protection with this version.

Version: Anonymizer Anonymous Surfing 6
"Performs As Represented - Exactly What I was looking for"
Pros: Relatively seamless - no glop, extra windows, jumping thru hoops.
I read complaints about download time - from people with a dialup connection. That's like complaining about the weather, and meaningless - download & install was straitforward.
I needed a product to mask where I was coming from when surfing, seamlessly, without hassle, and this does it, period.
Cons: Slight but noticeable slowing of surfing.
Won't allow upload of pictures on the main site I needed masking on. (eBay)
Curser in windows tray should change colors to allow you to know if it is turned on or off.
Bottom line - $30 bucks to surf anonymously? And it does what it says? I'd buy it again without a second thought.

"Good, Easy to use program that protects your identity."
Pros: It works well, and it easy to install. It works better and is faster than pretty much all public proxies I have used, and I don't have worry about all the security issues involved with public proxies.
Cons: Browsing is a little slower than normal when you are surfing.
