"Great product Great Coupon deal $70 off (35%)"

    January 16, 2011   |   By MikeCook614

    Version: Anime Studio Pro 7.0

    Pros

This software is a great tool for artists that want to make their characters into cartoon strips, animations and short movies.

the amazing 35% off promotion can be found at this wonderful website http://www.software.com/anime-studio-pro-8298-1

    Cons

The only major problem with this art software is that it isn't compatible with other art software except for Adobe Illustrator.

    "Opinion: Inadequate"

    December 25, 2010   |   By DNWG

    Version: Anime Studio Pro 7.0

    Pros

    - Lets you draw your own characters etc.
    - allows contact to vendor IF registered - not sure about long distance charges

    Cons

Opinion: Confusing interface. Irritating trial version with limited character profiles. Inadequate samples and help files. Vendor's own help file recommends using other software for lip synching.

    Summary

Opinion: Inadequate lip synching. Inadequate help and tutorials. Inadequate character profiles for testing the trial version. My experience: An irritating waste of time. Can't see much difference between versions. Interface is crowded and non-intuitive. Timeline is very scrunched down and not easy to see. Not enough character parts to play with in trial version.

    "Needs Improvements"

    January 09, 2010   |   By KewlKat007

    Version: Anime Studio 5.6

    Pros

It has some OK features on creating animation.

    Cons

I find the interface to be very poorly designed.

    Summary

I downloaded 5.6 because I was trying to find a trial version of 6.0 The only place I found the trial was on the Smith Micro website. However, there's a catch. The ONLY way to download the 30-day trial is to give them your credit card information. If you do not cancel before the 30 days they will charge your credit card.

I have never in my life heard of a software company having a 30-day limited trial that requires a credit card. To be honest that sounds like a scam to me. Of all the years I've been online (over 12) I never had to give my banking information to download and use a trial program.

They just lost my potential business.

    "very inconsistant"

    March 17, 2009   |   By david93950

    Version: Anime Studio 5.6

    Pros

bones feature is very easy to use although the bones can move parts you didnt want to move but can be corrected sometimes . this is an okay software for simple animation.dont expect that it can provide multiple characters in one scene.

    Cons

all the features are very eradic. the color fill especially and the auto fill and auto close features dont always work. you cant do much with this software its very limited. its okay for the price as a beginner animation toy.I found it frustrating .

    Summary

I expected this to be a fun animation device, instead I spent hours developing failed animations that looked terrible after I downloaded them to Youtube. all the charachters have to be either facing front or facing sideways. its almost impossible to turn figures sideways and still use the bones. and overlapping images never work right. the layers never worked the way they were supposed to work, sometimes they did , sometimes they didnt. very inconsistant.and you cant simply draw pictures like stick figures because this program uses shapes only.you can alter the shapes as many ways as possible but you still have to use shapes to create charachters, you cant just draw lines unless they are very thick lines. the auto fill for filling spaces with color is very inconsistant.you can only fill spaces with color and then alter the variations, like soft edge or gradient but to only one image per frame, as I said , its very limited. the only way to draw a line is with their pencil or shaper tools and there is NO eraser offered. you have to delete any line you didnt want. most other simple programs like this at least offer a choice between a pencil or brush and an ERASER. also you cant insert extra frames in the timeline to extend a sequence once the timeline is filled with keyframes and any image you alter after frame 1 will become distorted from then on. this I found extremely frustrating. if you want to change a part of a charachter into the movie you have to go back and fix every single frame and then the movie is all messed up and arm and leg movements are twisted and morphed. so its faster to just start all over. then to try to fix it.

"The software appears to help with animation, but..."

    October 25, 2008   |   By BuckFulton

    Version: Anime Studio 5.6

    Pros

SInce I was unable to use the Tutorials...I will never know the cons. I removed it from my PC.

    Cons

Not being able to print out the tutorials effieiently (one page at a time), and only viewable on a web browser, I elected to remove the software & not waste any more time. Sharing my screen with the sotware program & tutorial doesn't work for me.

    Summary

Obvioulsy there is a reason why the tutorials are made available in this fashion and inconvient, but no one in support could tell me the reason. Just seems dumb to force me to share a screen with the tutorial pages. (Same as above): Not being able to print out the tutorials effieiently (only one page at a time...which is what support told me), and only viewable on a web browser, I elected to remove the software & not waste any more time. Sharing my screen with the sotware program & tutorial doesn't work for me.

    "Advanced Skill a plus"

    September 16, 2008   |   By serbus

    Version: Anime Studio 5.6

    Pros

This is an excellent all purpose program featuring a lot of familiar flash-like qualities such as object, vectors, and frame-by-frame editing. The bones really help make a more fluid animation, but careful editing is necessary at times.

    Cons

Not for beginners. If you've used 3d programs and flash then you'll be able to understand it quicker. It has a high learning curve. If you are new to Animation then I would suggest getting an instruction book on Anime Studio before trying it.

"If you own a Dual Mac G5, Run Away!"

    November 16, 2007   |   By dfg,jhdkvh,bdf

    Version: Anime Studio 5.5

    Pros

In the beginning, Ii looks like a cool program, you do a couple of quick animations and then you are hooked, easy to use, nice graphics editing, yeah, ok.

    Cons

Then when you try to export, it crashes, crashes, crashes. Not in a way that you can test cause and effect, but in a maddeningly arbitrary way. Lost Marble (the forum) helpfully suggests that you upgrade to the Pro version for another $150. Mac owners who post there are ignored. This problem has existed at least for a year because that's how long I've been waiting for them to fix it. Upgrading to AS 5.5 does not help.

    Prepare to be enraged.
