If you need to teach your child basic geography about the United Sates, Animated States and Capitals makes the learning process fun. Although the program can quiz children on the locations of various states, they will probably first want to start with the tutorials, which show basic information about state names and their capitals. Once kids are up to speed on the nuts and bolts, the game will quiz them by highlighting states on a colorful map and asking them to click the correct names. Animated States and Capitals also tests in reverse, displaying state names and having the child click them on the map. Every correct answer reveals a piece of a hidden animated picture, a nice motivational tool. The trial version won't let you access the capital-testing option, but you can always register it once your kid has mastered the states. All told, the game makes a decent educational tool for preschoolers and early elementary-school students.Publisher's description
