This no-nonsense audio converter performs only one function, but we appreciate its speed and user-friendly approach. The handsome interface won't confuse even newcomers, as the majority of real estate is dedicated to a window that lists all queued files. Clicking the Settings menu item lets you choose among WAV, MP3, OGG, and WMA formats, but it's quite convenient that the application also integrates directly into the Windows context menu. Similar to most applications of this breed, Alive MP3 WAV Converter lets you select the bit rate and audio quality and apply VBR compression. The ability to schedule conversions will be helpful for those who need to transform large batches of files at once. You can certainly find more diverse audio applications, but we still think this one makes a pretty good choice.

Alive MP3 WAV Converter converts MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG, and VOX files. It's very easy to use; just right-click files in Windows Explorer, select Conversion to MP3 (or to WAV, OGG, WMA, or VOX), and convert your files using your predefined settings.

The application supports the normalizing of MP3 to MP3, WAV to WAV, WMA to WMA, OGG to OGG, and VOX to VOX, and supports MP3 VBR and OGG VBR. You also can convert MPC, AVI, MP1, MP2, G721, G726, G723, or RAW files to the above formats. This program gives advanced users the ability to finish conversions with the command line or to schedule batches, and speeds up MP3 conversion. Version 3.9.3.2 fixed bugs under Windows Vista.
