This firewall offers the rare combination of a powerful feature set and an easy-to-use design. During installation, the program finds all network-enabled applications on your PC and lets you set security policies for each. This eliminates the endless pop-up boxes you get with many firewalls, wherein you must allow or disallow certain processes from accessing your machine. We appreciate the ability to fine-tune all aspects of network usage using rules, and the easy-to-analyze logs are another big plus. In our tests, the firewall demonstrated good performance, successfully blocking several Trojan horses from our PC. Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro also enhances your Web-surfing experience by blocking pop-ups, Flash ads, and banners, as well as potentially dangerous elements on pages. New version 4.0 "knows" virtually all data theft techniques in use today by trojans, spyware, worms, viruses and other malware. Use of these data theft techniques can be simulated with so-called "leak tests" - special utilities that test how well personal firewalls prevent data leakage. Currently 18 leak tests are available, and several new ones are in development.
Outpost 4.0.964.582.059 passes all the leak tests available today, as well as some that have not yet been released. Besides the anti-leak protection, there is also Outpost's new ability to protect itself against being deactivated by malware, and stronger anti-spyware. Plus, some usability enhancements in the ImproveNet service were made.

"Solid, but Does not blend with most antiviruses"
Pros: Tight firewall. It Blocks almost each and every attacks on your computer. Provides details about the changes everytime your system tries to do so. Also, it blocks referrers.
Cons: Main problem is its inability to blend with most of the good antivirus programs. The firewall itself slows down your computer and if you use antivirus programs like F-Secure or BitDefender, the system almost ceases to respond. Kaspersky has serious conflicts with the agnitum firewall. Althought agnitum was supposed to resolve this issue with Kaspersky in the version 4.0, no progress was made. Symantec and Mcafee (2007) versions already do not like firewall from any other brand. So, one is left with Eset or with other lower quality antivirus programs.
Another con is repeated pop ups about the changed components of programs you have on your system. Everytime you update any of the program, you need to confirm the same to the outpost database. Last time, when I installed the October critical updates of Windows XP, the firewall did not accept the change in the components and crashed the computer. Ultimately, I had to uninstall the agnitum firewall. Now I prefer zonealarm, which is much easier to use and works as fine. It is compatible with Kaspersky as well.

"Simply the best firewall but not for beginners"
Pros: Have used Outpost for 2 plus year and this version is the best.It uses less resources than most quality firewalls and is fast.Few false signals and this version passes all leak tests.Navigates easily around your network. Has the easiest and best cookie control on the market and stops referers too along with allowing personal changes for each web site..
Cons: Not for me!! Not for those who refuse to be disturbed by any pop ups when required not realizing that is like leaving the front foor open instead of answering the bell when it rings.However the notifications can be turned off if you insist but one defeats the purpose of confirming and killing a leak.
It also does not like Trend Micro software, one must go into registry and wipe all traces of Outpost away before being allowed to install their internet security package.

"good protection, but unreliable"
Pros: It does a good job protecting your pc from threats
Cons: The self protection service went totally crazy on me. It didn't allow me to change any settings of the firewall nor to modify any rules. I couldn't allow nor deny applications to access the internet because the firewall took all control from me. I had to disable the self protection service to make it work normally.

"The Glorious Firewall *hugs*"
Pros: Everything, although its at first resource heavy, it lowers after a while...
Cons: Component Control sucks big, its security isn't the bad thing, its just that it does not register most of the time, so you have to repeat and repeat until you grow old.

"The Professional Gamers firewall"
Pros: Effective firewall ATTENTION! Gamers get raid of (MacAfee) or (Symantec) those are resource hoggers plus they alienate you system. I never go back to them
Hey get Outpost's firewall and NOD32 antivirus, they get along very well, and they are games friendly Works perfect with my Windows X64.
