Publisher's Description
From The Adventure Maker Team:
From the developer: Adventure Maker is one of the fastest, most powerful, and less expensive toolkits to create games and multimedia software. It is very easy to use, it does not require any scripting or programming, and it is particularly useful to create first-person adventure games, such as Myst or Riven, as well as educational software, presentations, and interactive tours. It can create single, compressed, stand-alone files, which can be distributed and sold for a profit, without having to pay royalty fees.

"Great Program!!! In...theory..."
Version: Adventure Maker 4.4
Pros
Somewhat easy to use. Good tool for beginners with no intention of making anything to compete in the game world.
Cons
No customer support from the maker. Limited video support. Horrible built-in animated .gif support, shoddy Flash integration.
Summary
Adventure Maker is a noble concept. It is somewhat easy to use, has a shallow learning curve, and it a good tool for beginners...assuming they have no intention of making anything that can compete in the software world.
While you can create PSP and iPhone applications with this program, these features have no support for ANY type of animation, video, audio, plugin, text (use images instead), or script.
In contrast with product description, Adventure Maker will NOT play any video format other than the infamously large AVI. It has horrible built-in animated .gif support and shoddy Flash integration. While its abilities can be expanded with third-party plugins and scripting (as long as you pay for the full version). Custom cursor support leaves a lot to be desired. Most built in features are poorly executed, and are extremely limited and bug ridden. None of the visual effects allow for image transparency, and .PNG format is NOT an option.
There is absolutely no customer support from the maker, instead, the only help you will ever be able to receive is from other customers who have spent time learning the program, and finding ways around its limitations. However, their requests for bug fixes have fallen on deaf ears.
While a Windows 7 BETA was released prior to the actual OS being released by Microsoft, there have been absolutely no updates in over a year, and no improvements on the BETA (which has no video or audio support, and more than half of the program is limping along). The website is outdated (still set up for Christmas '09), and no one gets any response from the software maker.
The bottom line is, unless you want to pay for the $69 full version ($150 if you want to sell your products), learn how to use visual basic script, and spend 85% of your time circumventing the many limitations and bugs of this program, don't expect to be able to make anything that even remotely stands out.
For that time and money, you might as well invest in learning Visual Basic Studio Express (which is free). At least THAT is devoid of bugs.

""Excellent!""
Version: Adventure Maker 4.4
Pros
Great interface.
Very easy to use and installs a stable, solid working game.
I have never had it crash or corrupt a file.
It handles a very large number of files .jpg, .wav and .mpeg without incident.Cons
It would be nice to be able to search variable locations in relation to frames or weed out unused files but I wouldn't really call this a con.
Summary
This should be all you need to get a point and click game up and running.

"Pretty pointless really"
Version: Adventure Maker 4.4
Pros
It does what it says it does IF you upgrade to the full version
It could be useful to beginners
Simple and easy to useCons
Can only create very basic games
-
"It is fabulous!"
Version: Adventure Maker 4.4
Pros
I like everything about it--it's easy to use!
-
"OMG! Great!"
Version: Adventure Maker 4.4
Pros
I like the way it is so simple to use!
Theres so much you can do that goes beyond what it is originally programmed to do.
Eg, if you edit the .gif files on the "Third-Person Plug-in" to make it yourself, you can have yourself walking around your home or anywhere you like!!
Cons
The only thing I didnt agree on was how it states on this site that there are "no limitations" when infact, there is. If you'd like to use the premium features (Third Person Views, Custom Plug-Ins, etc), you are only limited to 20 frames ... WHICH IS STILL ABSOLUTELY FINE!
Also, I couldn't work out how to export it so that I could send to my friends (im not sure if you can or not).
Overall, I think this is an amazing piece of software for someone who wants to make a fun and enjoyable game for friends and family!

"This product does not do what it claims to do"
Version: Adventure Maker 4.4
Pros
If you want to make a slide-show presentation, it MIGHT be suitable...
Cons
If you want to make anything other than a slide-show, this program is not the one for you!
-
"It's an old software that has been patched instead of updated"
Version: Adventure Maker 4.2
Pros
It will work good for 2D games but you will struggle very hard to develop it and you can kiss a lot of cool features goodby
Cons
I recommend to everyone not to buy this product. I know that this post won't last 3 minutes but let me tell you you can't take em down a downloads.com or any other download place that has a link to AM.
The software runs fine but could use a lot of work. There are problem areas all over the thing. It is a pain to use for large projects and there is very minimal support. The panoramic plug in is at best a joke. It is very unstable and displays very low quality non-anti-aliased look.
The IDE is very unfriendly and filled with dialogs that pop up all over the place. There is no copy and paste support for Hotspots and because of this placing hotspots can be a very tedious and long job.
Hotspots are rectangular only and are difficult to use.
There is no support for transparencies other than gif and they only really work if there not used in conjunction with tranisitions.
The script editor is a Rich text box which the code coloring interferes with the writing of any scripts.
Although the program runs very well for 2D frame games it's frame management tool shows very small preview icons for frames and the treeview does not allow you to nest folders for good quality organization of you games.
Inventory system works very well though you have to deal with age old 256 color icons which look really stupid.
There is no ability to type in the location of the hotspots to compositing items that will be added to the inventory. You have to drag hotspots to the proper position.
There is absolutely no support for drawing by code at runtime!!!
The free version is a joke for making games.
AdventureMaker is not a production quality game making software.
The Professional edition cost $130 it used to be $160. I think that tells the story enough.
My Opinion is that the professional addition is worth about $25 at best and the free version is worthless
Look for pipmap on google.
I suggest do even click the link to download you'll end up with more of a headache
