Adobe's latest version of the Flash Player browser plug-in is just as trouble-free as previous versions, existing unobtrusively in your system until Web-based animations, games, or ubiquitous Flash ads require its services.

The latest version downloads and installs quickly, and will probably always require a browser restart. Our tests turned up nothing to make us scratch our heads, and upgrading from version 9 to the current one has fixed for many people a bug that caused embedded video to freeze.

You need a Flash Player to experience the Web at its fullest, so users at any level of expertise should have no qualms about installing or upgrading to Flash 10.

"I never had 10.1 Ibut It sucks profusley."

August 13, 2011  |  By marilyno878787

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 10.1

Pros

Downloads itsself fast as lightning. I don't know about 10.1

Cons

After 10 minutes of watching the flashplayer buffer every 5 secs. You're so mad you don't care about the damn video, if you remember which one you wanted to watch since you typed in the name.
Too much freakin security.
had to get chrome. I hate it

Summary

It sucks consistently and profusely. This is stupid. If it worked, I'd be enjoying videos instead of writing to machines that nobody pays attention to. I have their "latest" version...10.3.

"TIME = LIFE & this is a HUGE waste of it."

February 05, 2011  |  By lifebydesign

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 10.1

Pros

It's the only choice we have, isn't it. So in that case, it's great for a few minutes.

Cons

The few minutes of usefulness gained turn into aggravation of the worst kind.

Summary

If there was any other choice, I'd jump on it FAST, so no more of my life is wasted trying to accomplish what I need to using this product. Adobe should be ashamed of releasing such a quality-lacking version of this... this... ARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHH!

"Don't install it if you don't need it"

January 26, 2011  |  By cuirassier

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 10.1

Pros

Does an excellent job with ordinary video, e.g. on YouTube and elsewhere.

Cons

Lack of user control suggests lack of pride in workmanship by Adobe (which may reflect poorly on other Adobe products). Inability to identify source of unwanted content a possible obstacle to parental or corporate control of Internet access.

Summary

I have encountered situations in which it is not possible to even stop video content or control its volume. I have also encountered situations in which it is not possible to identify the source (Web site or domain) of unwanted content for the purpose of banning it from my computer by means of the HOSTS file.

My understanding is that many parental and business Internet access controls ban unwanted content from computers by means of the HOSTS file. It is also necessary to know the domain of unwanted content to ban it via the browser or other controls. Flash Player's deficiencies do not allow identification of such content by the user (or parents, or corporate information technology departments) and therefore facilitate the reception of unwanted advertising (inconvenience) or even pornography (major problem). Inability to control volume--a no-brainer--could conceivably annoy other people in a household or workplace.

It is admittedly freeware but a company that took pride in its products and wished to give users a good impression would at least build such freeware with rudimentary quality and function (control of video including stop, volume control, and ability to identify source). The fact that Adobe has not done this would negatively influence my decision to buy anything from Adobe for which I actually had to pay.

"crashes most times, and some sites won't load at all"

January 20, 2011  |  By arynix

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 10.1

Pros

none that I can think of

Cons

I cannot view my bank statement due to Flash crashing literally 100% of the time on that website. It crashes two or three times per day on social and game sites. I also suffer the same choppiness, slowness, and heavy startup as other reviewers.

Summary

Inconvenient in the extreme, since there are no alternatives.

"THE worst upgrade EVER!!"

January 18, 2011  |  By topcat13017

Pros

Not a ONE!!

Cons

You may be able to get it to work once...think you have it solved...go to bed and POOF next morrning it doesn't work! It is piece of JUNK and Adobe should be ashamed of themselves!

Summary

Don't believe me?? Go to Adobe Flash Player Forums....and see how many people are having problems and getting ZERO help from Adobe. ( They give it away free.....so they don't have to suuport it. ) Ask Adobe how much they make from program developers that use it??

"Crashes..."

January 10, 2011  |  By Seren666

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 10.1

Pros

You can watch flash based content?

Cons

It would constantly crash and I would not just have to restart my browser, but my whole computer just to get it working again.

Summary

I'm on 64x w7 using Firefox but the problems also occurred on 32x IE and chrome (64x IE doesn't support flash anyways). In the end I found a solution... that is flash player 10.2 beta, although it still crashes (not as often) all I have to do is restart my browser, which is a lot better than 10.1 was!!
