Version: Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional
Pros: Very advanced program for high-level editing.
Cons: Very expensive. Also, make sure your rig is good enough to run it. It uses a lot of memory (400-600MB for me), and it takes up a lot of space.

Pros: This program is quite possibly the best tool for animation. It's sophisticated enough for high-end design but like all Adobe products uses a familiar UI that is easy to learn if you're familiar with the rest of the Adobe CS family.
Cons: None that I could think of. If you are a serious designer this is the program to get.
