Publisher's description of Actual Drawing 7.3
Actual Drawing is a visual publishing tool that helps you make Web pages without you having to know HTML, allowing you to drag and drop page content. The program has its own image-manipulation tools so you don't need to use a third-party image editor. Web page content can be drawn with various effects such as glow, shadow, or transparency. Resolution-independent vector layers can be resized without loss of quality. The program has easy-to-use tools for preparing custom rollover buttons; it creates necessary images and JavaScript. In addition, Actual Drawing has features for publishing your site, creating forms, and making Web albums. You can check broken links and submit your pages to search engines. The program also features a batch processor and ready-to-use JavaScript.
Version 7.3 features new graphic effects and error fixes.

- Version reviewed: Actual Drawing 7.3
Although this app qualifies as a true WYSIWYG HTML tool, we're not convinced Actual Drawing is a real Web-design program. In one test, we created a new file using a predefined template and were surprised to find that the program generated a file in the proprietary ADF format rather than in HTML. Actual Drawing requires you to edit pages in ADF, then export to HTML, meaning you can't tweak code within the program.
Still, we were impressed by its extensive layer control and the easy access to predefined buttons, tables, and JavaScript effects. However, opening an existing HTML file was a more painful experience. After chewing away at our system resources, the program displayed an atrocious, almost unrecognizable rendering of a relatively simple document. It also delineated each and every table, graphic, and piece of text as a separate layer, which made the editing process even more frustrating.
To its credit, Actual Drawing is a decent layout application for designing attractive pages that include interactive scripting elements. However, its inability to handle existing HTML files means that most users should look elsewhere.
