"I use ActivePerl every day"

February 25, 2005  |  By spicetrader

 |  Version: ActivePerl 5.8

Pros

Perl written on Windows runs on Unix, too, and vice versa. Brings sensible scripting, modularity, error checking and branching to DOS.

Cons

Database connectivity packages are unavailable, it appears, without a compilation from source.

"Good and stable"

January 19, 2004  |  By GreenLeaf

 |  Version: ActivePerl 5.8

Summary

The distribution is failry stable, and works almost like the unix versions with perl, so you won't get any platform-compatibility problems except in the cases of databases etc. PPM is quite convenient for installing packages. However, it's not that easy to install packages that are not found in the active-state repository.
