This program provides the most Mac-like experience of any file-sharing program we've tested. Built on Apple's Cocoa API, Acquisition takes full advantage of Aqua interface capabilities such as sheets, drawers, and a customizable toolbar. It also is integrated with iTunes, saving you the tedium of importing music files into your library.
Acquisition only shares files over the Gnutella network and limits you to five simultaneous peer connections, so search results sometimes are inadequate. On the other hand, the program provides search filters that can help you wade through incidental search results to get to the files you're actually looking for.
Though Acquisition can't deliver the sheer quantity of files available through PC clients such as Kazaa, it provides the quality experience Mac users have come to expect from their software. If you're content to share files over Gnutella, this should be your client of choice.
Acquisition is a gnutella client supporting modern gnutella features such as Ultrapeers, swarm (multi-source) downloads, download resumption, and distributed network discovery.
Acquisition also features a single-window user interface with a convenient drawer that summarizes all current searches, network activity, and active transfers.
