From Acala Software:
Acala Free Audio Recorder is tiny, intuitive, and ablolutely free audio recorder, which records audio from an external source and writes it directly to an MP3 file. You can record audio from Microphone, Walkman, CD player or Record Radio.
It won't record into a memory/file buffer and require you to export audio data and recompress the data when recording done. You will get the available mp3 file immediately when recording finished.
What's new in this version: Version 4.2.4 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"It tries to access the internet in the background"
Version: Acala Free Audio Recorder 4.2.4
Pros
It records sound. It has a path on the screen that lets you chose where to save the file.
Cons
Upon installations it tries to access the internet. Then after first use it tries to access the internet in the background again.
It recorded only from the microphone in my Sony computer with Windows 7 64bit. There was no Options menu where to change the input sourc/device.Summary
It is useful for those who need to record from only one input device. It could overwrite files unless you change the name of the file in the path to a new file. It will not ask you if you want to overwrite a file. You could lose files that way.
