"Good for editing video clips for presentations"
Version: AVS Video Editor 3.5
Pros
Once you understand the interface, it's easy to trim video clips to get just the seconds that you want. You can do some audio track work, as well, which I've used to "mute" certain words and phrases that might offend. Those two tasks alone were all I really needed, and the software performs adequately.
Cons
The more advanced features seem prone to causing crashes. The DVD creation process never worked well, often producing non-functioning DVD menus. The transitions that you can insert between video files aren't great, lacking something as simple as a decent fade. If you're looking to do more than trim and join video files, you'll probably be happier if you spend a bit more money.

"VERY uncomfortable, doesn't have even basic functions"
Version: AVS Video Editor 3.5
Pros
Absolutely nothing.
Cons
I tried to make a video slideshow and what a pain this program is. Not only it freezes its windows sometimes, and freezes itself, but it also doesn't have even basic functions I'd expect from Paintbrush-level program. For example, it doesn't offer you a timeline on your slideshow, it doesn't let you edit your video in mix mode (when you see video and audio tracks together), you have to go to video edit mode which doesn't have timeline, and so you have no idea at what point of the video is the frame you're editing. It doesn't even allow you to select a group of frames (pictures) within your video. Yes, you have to edit EVERY SINGLE FRAME properties separately. How retarded is that? I started my first and last project in this one, and I'm not using this worthless piece of junk programming ever again. Don't waste your money.

"DOES NOT SAVE WORK...CRASHES UNEXPECTEDLY...WASTE OF TIME"
Version: AVS Video Editor 3.5
Cons
This software is the the most unreliable I have used in a while. Even saving your work continuously does not guarantee that you will open a project later and it will have saved your work up to where you left off. It is EXTREMELY UNSTABLE and crashes and lock ups are frequent. If you do get your project to a point where a movie can be made, it puts a big logo smack dab in the middle of the screen and then tries to get you to buy. Don't even waste your time. Powerpoint does a better job than this piece of junk. AVS SOFTWARE SUCKS.

"better than roxio but there is better"
Version: AVS Video Editor 3.5
Pros
ok package for quick/small projects. small enhancements could make it a good competitor. can't beat price of bundle.

"Trial version is useless... it superimposes their logo on your output file."
Version: AVS Video Editor 3.5
Pros
Giant download, long painful installation, clumsy un-intuitive UI. When I finally made my first video with the trial version I was forced to either buy the program or output my video with a big ugly AVS Video promo stamped overtop my movie. There should be a warning or a disclaimer up front. This software sucks!
Cons
Undisclosed limitations to free trial version. Confusing user interface. Huge download.

"Great program, bad company!!"
Version: AVS Video Editor 3.5
Pros
This program is actually very easy to use, I like it a whole lot!!
Cons
I purchased a license which was delivered via email quickly. The only problem is the license key they sent was invalid and they wont answer my support requests nor refund my money. Don't purchase anything from avs4you.com, buyer beware!!!

"Excellen program for the price"
Version: AVS Video Editor 3.5
Pros
More features than many higher priced products. good selection of transitions and special effects; good editing tools and scene creation & editing. Audio editing features are very good also.
Cons
Interface is not very intuitive and takes some time to get used to and learn.
