I installed because a upgraded to a 64-bit system and found that
Machete Lite thinks all AVI files are corrupt. But it didn't promise
it would and it didn't harm my system It IS NOT malware as some have implied.Cons
None that I have found.
Summary
If it helped I didn't notice as I could play and edit my avi files
with several players and editors. But it certainly didn't harm anything. So I rated it 4 stars because that was the average rating. -

Summary
All I wanted was to be able to play avi and hd video with windows media player and this "fixes" the problem that shouldn't even exist. Microsoft should package this or something like it with media player. In short, it works and doesn't mess up my system.

Summary
Another user stated they had problems, but anyone with any experience of codecs knows not to install 2 codec packs at the same time. It's kind of like putting water, screen wash and petrol in the fuel tank of a car.
I also took the recommendation from another reviewer to test the .exe on virus total (virustotal.com) and it showed as clean. -
"Same Aw Window Codec Pro - Will Not Uninstall"

Once installed my movie maker and nero now lock up. Mouse opens everything with one click. Cannot uninstall the program. Says its uninstalled but all files still run.
Cons
Way too big an installation for just codec files. Messed up my system and will not uninstall. Says it uninstalled succesfully but all the files are there and run if clicked on.
Malware as far as im concerned. Same as Windows Codec Pro PackSummary
If you install it you will have it forever as it will not uninstall although it indicates it did.
Maybe no virus but definately has problems...
My mouse, Nero and Movie Maker are now messed up. No telling what else is going on yet. Wish I had never tried it.

It seems alright, Just a normal codec pack. If there is a virus just don't download the toolbar, those are full of virus's and spyware.
Cons
Doesn't have as many codecs as other free ones have. Better off with Cole2K media pack and switch on AVI.
