Publisher's Description
From AVG Technologies USA:
AVG Internet Security 2012 speeds your PC up, by accelerating the download of content-rich files. Faster system start-up and support for Flash and HD video means you can enjoy online video like YouTube faster than ever before. AVG Internet Security protects you when shopping and banking, keeping your identity safe. The AVG Firewall prevents inbound and outbound attacks, while Identity Protection secures personal content you enter online.
Antivirus protection that automatically updates to protect you from continually evolving threats. As hackers develop new techniques, AVG's research labs are constantly processing web data to provide new defenses to keep you automatically protected.
Get on with your surfing and gaming without interference. Scans operate when you are away from your PC, and it also knows when you are gaming and ensures that the security operates in the background only, leaving you free to play.
Keep your inbox clear of spam and also protect it from phishing scams along with the hidden viruses that they contain. AVG will also protect you when exchanging files through popular instant messaging like MSN and Yahoo. You want to search and surf, but you don't ever want to go to any infected websites. AVG helps you out by clearly alerting you to threats and keeping you clear of them.
With AVG protecting your system, you can chat and message your friends on Facebook and other social networks in the knowledge that each web page and link is checked for safety. You won't pick up a malicious link from your friends - and you won't send one either.
What's new in this version: Version 2012.0.2178 is a maintenance release.

"Spam detection not the greatest"
Version: AVG Internet Security 2012 2012.0.2171
Pros
Inexpensive to purchase; user friendly so far
Cons
Continually finding wanted mail in my junk box, despite repeatedly adding them to my safe list, & still receive spam in my inbox. Have spoken to customer support but the issues remain... :-(
Summary
Spam detection needs improving, otherwise seems fine.

"Horrible Experience."
Version: AVG Internet Security 2012 2012.0.2169
Pros
I have no idea.
Cons
WON'T WORK PROPERLY. WILL NOT UNINSTALL even after using a separate AVG removal tool!
Summary
Bought the boxed paid version. Difficult installation-Horrible instructions and no direct autostart from disk. Had to install with questionable directions. After installed & updated, the product shut down 3 times while online and left me with no firewall! Program said "no components!" and then disappeared. Rebooted. It updated again and changed interface then did the same thing! I even registered the product and received a notice that they even changed my license number...huh?! I finally gave up and uninstalled the product only to find it would not leave my computer! (Windows says that it is still my virus and firewall) Found on the website that I had to install a separate removal tool to get rid of the !#)!&%!& thing.I did that and it IS STILL on my computer. This little box came up and left. Nothing more happened and Windows still thinks it is my antivirus AND firewall! Once this thing is finally off my system-I will never install it again.

"AVG -American Vintage Garbage"
Version: AVG Internet Security 2012 2012.0.1913
Pros
Great Cartoonist the artistic work I give two thumbs up
Cons
Too many to list
Summary
AVG- American Vintage Garbage:
1) It's like Building your dream home with Pre-Schools Nail and Hammer set.
2)Patching your basement floor with Playdough,
3) You got a job need a car- so you go buy a Revell plastic model. Yeeeeeah,
I explained my tech side of Antivirus and someone once said what does that mean? So here I give it to you in simple terminology I have been on the web since the day Windows-95 was released. I'm an Old fart, TRUST ME Please, AVG is putting your machines in harms way on the World Wide Web, The web is Real and has real life dangers. You need a prison fence around your machine, not Bounty paper towels --that's a fact! Would you leave your front door unlocked if you lived @ East St. Louis, Illinois. -
"Firewall is useless. Don't upgrade from version 9"
Version: AVG Internet Security 2012 2012.0.1913
Pros
Better than Symantec
Cons
Firewall blocks everything randomly. I have to turn it off. some protection! No email Support. Only chat or phone. Tried chat - no agents available. Tried AVG forum. Takes 3 logons to get to it, then it fails.
Summary
I've had paid versions of AVG for years. This one seemed ok, until the firewall decides to randomly block internet access completely - especially if it's pushed hard. It's disabled right now, just to get on the internet. Support is non-existent and useless. Website is poor.
Now that I've had it awhile... DONT UPGRADE FROM 9
Updated on Mar 3, 2012
When I do a search, I right click, open in new tab, many pages. This allows them to load, and I then start reviewing to see if they have what I look for.
AVG Firewall will block access to the internet, when you do this.
You have to set to allow all - per support. Don't know if it works, but if it's allow all - what good is it ?
No email support. Tried chat support. There is usually 5 to 7 minutes between responses. Clearly the person is working multiple customers at the same time and can't keep up. -
"Doesn't protect/Poor technical support/no refund"
Version: AVG Internet Security 2012 2012.0.1901
Pros
Until January 1, 2012, I had very high praise and regard for AVG. Please review my summary.
Cons
After January 1, 2012, AVG reported I was not protected. Please review my summary.
Summary
I regret having to give AVG such a poor report card. until January 1, 2012, I had very high praise and regard for AVG. After January 1, 2012, AVG reported I was not protected. I made multiple contacts with AVG and twice sent Diagnostic information to AVG with promises of 24-48 hour response from a "senior technician." We never received a response. I was very frustrated with the lack of response and anxious over my computers and devices not being protected. AVG Reps, including managers, apologized profusely and assured me they had escalated this into a "top priority." When AVG couldn't fix the problem (NDIS Driver not found) they offered to refund my money (I was paid up through 2014). I took them up on their offer and then received an email stating they wouldn't do the refund. I am very disappointed with AVG and cannot in good faith recommend their current product or service to anyone.
