Baidu Antivirus 2013 is light on system resources yet big on protection, fast, and free forever. Up-and-comer Baidu's antivirus solution protects your system with Baidu Antivirus and Cloud Security Engines and Avira Antivirus Engine. Baidu Antivirus can be customized to favor speed or protection, and it runs happily alongside other antivirus programs -- both uncommon traits. Baidu Antivirus 2013 (version 3.6.2) runs in Windows XP to 8.

After installing Baidu Antivirus, we did three things: verified that it played well with our existing tools (it did), updated its definitions (they were), and scanned our system. Baidu Antivirus offers Quick, Full, and Custom scans. The Quick scan is very fast, indeed; fast enough to scan at boot without slowing your PC much. Custom scans can include portable devices. The Full scan takes about as much time as other programs, and it finds more, too, though it returned a false positive on a firewire driver. But six others were smelly enough to toss on the safe side. We opened the Settings and clicked "Virus Scan," where we could select file types to scan and exclude, choose actions upon detection, and exclude or set size limits on archived files. Under Engine Options, we could set Low, Normal, and High detection levels to vary the impact of scans on system performance and also enable or disable Avira Engine with separate checkboxes for real-time protection and virus scan. We could also set options for some extra features, such as USB and Download Protection and Proactive Defense. Quarantine, Exclusion, and Log features all open from the main screen.

Baidu Antivirus 2013 impressed us with its speed and depth of coverage. It's a better choice for experienced users due to its options and because its deep scans can return false positives that beginners might overlook. We'll be watching Baidu's antivirus offering with interest!

when I use this product and updating this product is quite problematic sometimes you have to start the program from the beginning if the update manually here the problem appears especially products such as baidu pc faster pc sometimes be slow pruk iini should be improved and updated so that the design looks nice, neat and performance to be stable and the protection to be good again

Just had a cold spell after my laptop after a heavy repetitive job suddenly died. Fiddling restoring a backup disk image and rewriting boot sector after mounting the HD as USB to another computer did not work. Many, many hours of work and apps. tied to the computers ID was lost, I feared. Fortunately the problem was a defunct power supply draining, not charging the battery. Lessons learned and better safe than sorry: On the restored system a full scan by MS security essentials revealed a "browser modifier" threat.A following Baidu scan of the same disk image detected the same threath plus a virus and a hack tool (false positive? as coming with an expensive voice pack, voice though unaffected after resolving).For maximum security consumer experience/cloud services was allowed in both runs, Baidu also updated with its optional Avir definitions before executed..
Cons
The web is now transparent. I guess for detecting some threats (key logging etc.) a cloud connected antivirus service is necessary. These services probably can store and read the computers log files.
Summary
My until now default AV solution and Baidu are both unobtrusive and lightweight, free and working on XP and up. Baidu sports additional features as a firewall able to block apps. phoning home (if tired of regular requests for update) if opted. If of no significance using a Far East cloud service to prevent loss of (precious) data by virus infection, hijacking etc. to me the free Baidu looks as a generous, lightweight, working AV solution.

My computer had Avast and ran perfect. Took Avast, installed Baidu, he blew out several important files and even file system, until I was forced will format the computer. In one month, he destroyed my computer.
Summary
If you want to preserve your PC, and install a trusted software, install Avast, SVG, Avira, BitDefender, Norton, McAfee or other reliable antivirus. Baidu Antivirus destroys the security of your computer completely. None experienced serious technical and recommends Baidu. Use your wits, install a reliable antivirus, run away from Baidu. Baidu destroy your computer.

When I first installed this, everything seemed fine...the first thing I did was to turn off all automatic updates, both virus definitions and main engine update (I always do updates manually)....BUT....after using it for a couple of days, I noticed it was updating automatically anyway....I rechecked the settings and they still said it was in manual mode, so obviously there is a problem with turning updates off....THEN, The big problem....On the third day, it automatically updated the main engine (even though update was turned off) and that's when the big problem started....everything on the system began to run slower...files took longer to open, right click menu opened slower, videos took longer to start, web pages loaded slower, etc...so I went in and turned off all "real time" protection, but it did not help, it's as if it ignores all your settings and does what it wants to do.....So, I'm uninstalling this and I do not recommend it.

Toolbox for adding features. Easy protection toggles. Multiple engines, baidu, baidu cloud, avira. I like the avira engine. Fast scans Light on system resources. Themes Easy quarantine No ads telling you to pay Lots of options to make it how you want. It says "Free forever", (you will never have to pay) Easy options for the detections after scans. Tells you how many days it has been "protecting" or been installed on the computer. Automatic Updates right when an AV defenition update is realeased.
Cons
Updating is a bit slow with multiple engines. A few false positives, which is why a reccomend doing a full scan first to exclude any false positives.
Summary
This is a combination of all the features I like on antiviruses. No ads telling you to buy Pro, Internet Security, Premier, or anthing. I like the avira engine. And I like being able to schedule scans. Baidu is perfect.

I have just installed it, and right now I have no complaints. 1. It's free. 2. It has a very intuitive interface. 3. It's quick to install. 4.There's no bundlewares, 3rd parties or otherwise. I'm quite happy right now, have yet to determine if it's effective or not...
Cons
All its services and components attempts to connect to the internet. I'm suspecting something fishy going on there. Upon first reboot, it trashes my harddisk for a bit (or it could be me attempting to uninstall my other antivirus).
