Though not as well-known as some competitors, this antivirus program offers rock-solid protection. AVG Anti-Virus Professional provides all the necessities, including a tool for scanning your hard drive and e-mail, as well as a real-time shield to prevent infections.
You'll find a full-blown scheduling utility for automating tasks and checking for new definitions as often as you'd like. Other perks found in this Pro version include technical support and the ability to run on multiple operating systems. Should a virus create serious system problems, AVG creates a rescue disk to scan your computer in MS-DOS mode.
The program doesn't tax your system when scanning or when running in the background, and it always proved effective in our tests. The interface can't be described as beautiful, yet it is mostly simple to navigate.
Though the free version of this program will suffice for average folks, those who demand more control should certainly consider AVG Anti-Virus Professional.

Pros: one of the best ones i seen light on cpu scan r in mid range for speed and updates r some wat fast
Cons: u get lags on the internet removel of virus and spyware is kind of hard to do

Pros: The new version of AVG AV 8.0 includes the same features as AVG Anti-malware, and rootkit, just all bundled up in one program. I ran it on a Vista Ultimate, and the program seemed to have functioned quite well ( I have Windows XP H.E.).
Cons: Linkscanner Lite, proved somewhat useful, yet it took almost "forever" to scan a page, while McAfee Siteadvisor took seconds on a broadband connection. The newly designed GUI was excellent and now has more customizable features. What slightly troubles me is the limitations in this software. I tried it a day after its release, and I think it offers a 15-day trial. Not a 1 year >.> I got to double check. Meanwhile, I would still recommend this rigorous and solid software.

Pros: Better and faster than 7.5,And as for slowing down my computer it did the opposite.And even uses less web space than 7.5.I have been using AVG since it's inception.Wouldn't leave home with out it!
