Greatly expanded abilities. I like the email check system most. Also the website warnings.
Cons
I have clicked on the AVG icon and found three times that it had "deactivated" all features several days before without any kind of notice. I end up removing the old AVG and downloading a new version and it is good for a couple of months.
Summary
It is ok when it works... I now must check it routinely to find out if it has deactivated.

This program finds most viruses and spyware that other anti-virus software doesn't find. If you don't have an anti-virus software, AVG is a good one to start with. I have used it for years. And it is also free, so you can't beat that.
Cons
This software isn't perfect, but what anti-virus is. But AVG-FREE is good enough to get four stars from me, and I have used it for years. If you want the perfect anti-virus then you can keep dreaming. There is no anti-virus out there that is perfect.
Summary
Because no anti-virus is perfect I use more than one anti-virus software. Although AVG-FREE is a good one, you need to have all the virus protection you can have. I use three anti-virus programs and an anti-spyware program. And I suggest that everyone should do this. The anti-virus programs I use are all good to very good. I use AVG-FREE which has a four star rating, Norton Anti-Virus which has a three star rating, and Avast Anti-virus which has a four star rating. With the three combined I get the best anti-virus protection I can have. What one anti-virus doesn't detect, the others will. It is very important that you keep your virus definitions updated DAILY. The Anti-spyware that I use is Spybot. With all these programs I am perfectly protected. I have never had a problem with any of my computers. I know I am suppose to be doing a summary on AVG-Free, but I felt I needed to tell everyone my way of protection. But AVG-FREE is a very good anti-virus and everyone should have it, plus its free. I guarantee you will be satisfied with this anti-virus.

Very simple to operate, better than ESET NOD, BitDefender and others that I have tried. It found things ESET NOD32 business didn't even detect! And this is the free version!

Works easily, offers excellent protection, it keeps your emails safe, stops viruses before they start getting into your computer and causing havok.
Cons
Updates aren't always working and resident shield doesn't always detect everything.

would not back their product. did not allow my computer to contact the server. could not resolve the problem. paid for a year but after a month quit allowing access to server.

product did not perform required tasks . would not update even though I paid for the premiere edition. could not get any help in solving my problem . the system told me it was unable to access the server. when I asked for help , and I did what was required it still did not work so for a month I had no updates . finally I uninstalled product and asked for a refund of the 10 months that were still paid for and instead received a message as for me to continue doing what had been earlier suggested. which did not work. I used this website as a recommendation for this product and am disappointed as to the results of this recommendation.

it enters computer and never leaves. can't remove it. when you email or call for support you can't get them. they re-route to paying site. phone they sell you.tried numerous times, speaking up is the right thing to do.
