It's extremely slow....takes all day to scan my computer.

I have an older computer, and in addition to AVG Free taking all day to scan my computer, it also slows it down so much as to make it very frustrating to operate....sometimes impossible. I can't even count the times my computer has froze up because of how much it's been slowed down, or how many times I've walked away in frustration. What good is an anti-virus on a computer you can't use?

I tried to get help to fix the web shield, as it keeps showing as disabled (not working) and I can't access any help and when I try to do what is suggested by FAQ to fix it ..it doesn't work. I am nervous that this doesn't work and so not protected.
