It hasn't given me any trouble, nor have I suffered any virus problems of significance while protected by AVG. Its signatures are frequently updated.

Tired of the right to update virus definitions expiring with costly software, and you can't beat the price, and self updating and installation of latest virus definitions, makes it maintenance free.
