This video-conversion application simply transforms ASF and WMV files into AVI and MPEG clips, and vice versa. ASF Converter requires Windows Media 9 runtime files to run, so unless you already have them installed, the application will download them from the Web. Since the program doesn't offer anything close to an extensive feature set, navigating the straight-ahead interface isn't much of a chore. When specifying conversion settings, you can change the screen resolution, frame rate, and codecs, and choose which audio format to use. In our tests, the conversion process was fairly swift, and although the 10-day trial period is rather short, the demo at least lets you convert entire files (unlike some competitors). If simple video conversion is your game, this utility is happy to oblige, but don't expect anything fancy.Publisher's description
From Boilsoft :ASF Converter lets you easily convert Windows Media files (ASF and WMV) to AVI, MPEG or VCD/SVCD/DVD files, and convert AVI or MPEG files to ASF or WMV files with the predefined profiles or the custom profiles you defined. The friendly and understandable interface allows you to batch-convert without any difficulties. The application supports AVI (DivX, XviD, MPEG-4, uncompressed, and Cinepak), MPEG-1, MPEG-2, ASF, and WMV.
Version 2.68 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Version: ASF Converter 2.68
"The trial version puts a big watermark in the middle of the video"
Pros: It was fairly quick at converting a 1 hour ASF file to MPEG-2.
Cons: How can I decide if I want to buy it when there is a huge watermark plastered in the center of the converted video? It was glaring yellow and so distracting that I didn't even want to check the quality of the converted video further. I would much rather try out a program that gives me a limited number of trials so that I can tell if it's going to produce output that I can use

Version: ASF Converter 2.68
Cons: It's not AVI to ASF.
GAAAH.

Version: ASF Converter 2.68
Pros: Hard to tell, as the trial version doesn't give a useful end result.
Cons: Trial version doesn't really let you try anything due to the huge "UNREGISTERED VERSION" water mark in large bright yellow letter.
Summary: It didn't convert the audio track, only the video. and it left a HUGE watermark in BRIGHT YELLOW that doesn't even allow you to see the quality of what you converted. Don't waste your time on this one.
