AP Tuner takes a classic musician's instrument tuner and puts it on the computer, while adding a few extra, useful features. It offers a "note preset" function that allows musicians to tune to the standard notes used by their instruments, as well as customizable temperaments. It has a harmonic graph feature that shows the nearby harmonics of the note being played, aiding in more precise tuning adjustments. The interface is smart and straightforward, with menus and settings logically organized and easy to find. Our main objection was that it works only in standalone mode, without an option to be used as a DirectX or VST plug-in inside one of the most popular audio-editing programs. This drawback alone may keep it out of professional recording studios, but we would otherwise happily recommend it to computer-friendly musicians.Publisher's description
From Audio Phonics :AP Tuner is a full feature chromatic tuner for your PC. The tuner is responsive and accurate (~0.1 cents). The detection algorithm has been improved to better find low and inharmonic notes. The tuning system is fully customizable with a custom temperaments and stretch tables, as well as adjusting Middle A. Finally, a new "harmonic graph" window has been added to assist in visualizing harmonic content over time.

Version: AP Tuner 3.06
Pros: This thing rocks! It is very responsive, has a tone position indicator at the bottom as well as seeing the needle move on the screen. Has over a dozen preset open tunings for slide players. Does Bass and 12-string as well. Can change the color of everything to suite your fancy.
Most importantly, it really works.
Cons: I have yet to find any drawbacks to this program.

"The only tuner you'll EVER need!!!"
Pros: After looking through tens of different tuning programs that were either buggy, not working, partially-working shareware, or just plain bad...I came across this little gem! This program had me tuning my electric guitar through my computer in mere minutes!!! I'm a beginner, and I can use this program very easily. Although I may not have much experience with guitars...I have a lot of experience with computers, and I know great software when I see it-- and this is it!!! It's not only good for beginners...it also has more advanced features for less-typical tuning configurations!! BRAVO!!! Great job on this program...really, GREAT JOB...keep up the excellent, quality work!
Cons: I didn't find any cons. :)

"Great, XP Service Pack 3 Problem"
Pros: Great program! I was very disappointed, when it started working after installing XP Service Pack 3. There is a newer release 3.08, now it is working again. In 3.08 there is no option "always stay on top" in the GUI, but you can manually edit tuner_config.xml to "AlwaysOnTop true /AlwaysOnTop".

"Good lord, this is SIMPLE, EASY, and it WORKS!"
Pros: complete spectrum of tuning. Half steps, 1/4 steps if you want?! Installs fast, works through your mic, doesn't require system reconfig to get your mic to work. Actually shows you what tone you are playing.
Cons: Hah, it doesn't automatically tune my guitar for me. That's all I can say.

Pros: It's easy to install, use and it is accurate.
Better than chromatic electronic pocket tuners
Cons: You have to carry a computer with you (doesn't fit in your pocket) ;-)
