Publisher's description
From akgupta :AKGBackup is a multi-platform compatible backup program that is written entirely in Java. It is a utility for backing up your files, with an option to compress data, on a different hard disk drive, floppies, different partition of the same disk drive or any media an operating system can write to.
After the first run, subsequent runs are blazingly fast as only the changed or new files are backed up. It can also create a specified number of backups so that one can have older as well as newer backups.

Version: AKGBackup 1.3
"One-button backup utility is easy to use, and easy to configure too."
Pros: AKGBackup lets any user back up their files with one click. Since only new and changed files are backed up, backups go very fast. Setup (which you do only once) is also simple. Now there's no excuse for losing files!
As long as you don't use AKGBackup's compression feature, you can recover any lost file just by using Windows Explorer to copy the backup file to the original PC.
Cons: 1. If source and backup PCs have different file systems (e.g. NTFS and FAT32), some files that were already backed up may get backed up again (time waster).
2. If, during setup, you choose to compress backup files, only this program can uncompress them. Nothing indicates which backup files are compressed and which are normal files.
3. If, during setup, you choose the "mirror" option, at each backup all files you've deleted from the originals are also deleted from the backups. This can delete the very files you'll later want to recover. And if you use the program's "restore" function while "mirror" is turned on, it will delete all *originals* created since the backup was made!
Note: If you avoid the compression and mirror options, you will not have these problems.

Version: AKGBackup 1.3
"Better than claimed by the author"
Pros: Easy to install and run. Execellent help file. Very fast.
Cons: I'd like to see it provide for backing up easily on CDs. Note: If you have DLA enabled, it will use CDs effortlessly for the backup media.

Version: AKGBackup 1.3
Pros: Easy to use, cross platform, and stores individual files rather than archives. This makes it really easy to restore using nothing more than a file browser.

Version: AKGBackup 1.3
"Best backup utility I've tried."
Pros: This application performs as advertised. I've tried many applications and this is by far the best -- mostly because it's simple to use. It's easy to set-up, fast and absolutely stable. I use it in conjunction with Scheduled Tasks to back-up my laptop every night. It performs flawlessly. I highly recommend this application to all my friends.
Cons: The user interface could be better. Usabilty could also be improved. It's too easy to delete a backup job. The backup logs also get pretty fat after a while.

Version: AKGBackup 1.3
"Quick and easy, functions as promised."
Pros: Allows incremental backups to save time, or multiple backups that get every file, every time. I have used a combination of both types in AKG for over a year and love it. The program runs every time I log on, reminding me to backup to my external hard drive.
Cons: When I edit one of my backup jobs, and change the name for instance, it creates a new job with the new name, but also leaves the old job intact. Basically the edit button works like a copy button if the name is changed. Not a big deal, just a little odd.
Also, it requires Java, but most users have that installed already.
