Version: AISBackup 2.3.1
"This is the BEST; There's nothing else even close!"
Pros: I have tried backup app after backup app, spending hours learning to use them. Almost immediately each one let me down in some very important way.
This backup app actually does everything it says it does! For me, that's a first! All other backups tout their virtues and say nothing of their limitations. Not this one! Previously, the only backup I was able to use was a disk imaging app (and, believe me, I tried dozens before finding one of those that would work, too). But images are limited, because they're an all or nothing proposition; You lose every change you have made to the system since you made the image. That means you reinstall all apps and make all the tweaks you made since the image was created. Horrible waste of time, and very stressful, too, but it was the best method I had found, before now.
This is what I've done to test this backup app in the few days I've had it installed: I made a full backup of my system drive (C:) including the registry. Then I took my system back in time several weeks by restoring an image file I had created. I then followed AIS' instructions on restoring the system, including the registry. When I was done, I had my system back to the exact point it was before I sent it back in time with the image! Everything was there, and everything worked!
I've also had some hardware issues in the last few days, and I've done some registry editing. Somehow, I guess I screwed up some key file AIS Backup needed to keep track of my trial period. I uninstalled, and reinstalled, and came back with a working trial copy. After reinstallation, I didn't have any of the backup jobs I had created. Well, no problem! Just reinstate the backup job from the backup disks, and I'm back in business with a full history of all prior backups.
No other backup I've tried has every been able to do these things successfully for me. I'm hooked! I'm plunking down the modest cost for a registered copy of the program just as soon as I can.
Cons: The only complaint I have is that each time I've had a major problem with my system for the last week or two, everytime I get back to a working system, I've lost an extra day on the trial period. But, I've used it enough to know that I'm buying this one ASAP!

Version: AISBackup 2.3.1
Pros: This program has been providing unattended backup for a small school I support, requiring no attention for years. This is due to the smart pruning which keeps the backup volume very manageable in size. Highly recommended!
