"Amazingly great photo viewer!"
Version: ACDSee 8.0
Pros
I've tried pretty much most image viewers and this the ACDSee 7 and now 8 (yes I upgraded) is terrific! No problems, it's fast, cool and I can make sweet VCDs and edit photos in Bulk. The best thing is the photo repair thing. Pimples and other stuff on photos magically disappears. i give it 5 stars
Cons
Slow in starting up but so does all my other programs so thats not ACDSee's fault.

"Expensive waste of time; Big Brother wants your $$$$"
Version: ACDSee 8.0
Pros
Earlier versions once had a good reputation.
Cons
The old ACDSee, up to v. 5.0, was great. I upgraded to v. 7 based on that experience. This new version has one goal in mind: to attach your computer to the ACDSee bank account, and then never let go. It took forever to get the software loaded. Tech Support suggestion: delete and try again. Once loaded, this program is so slow that you will think that your double-click went un-noticed. 2 or 3 minutes later (I am not kidding) having moved on to other business, suddenly ACDSee pops up and starts to load, which is an excruciatingly tedious process. I can only guess that it is registering every image on my computer and then phoning home to report to Big Brother. After having finally called up an image in its viewer, I would then try to return to the thumbnail page. It freezes everytime. I have wasted enough time and $40 on this bloated goose. This negative review is my last attempt to acheive some sort of justice. HINT: for an image combo that works, get an old 5.0 copy of ACDSee for image browsing (but NOT from a buggy European site). For rotating, flipping, reformatting, etc., get a FREE download of IrfanView (superb, but somewhat DOSie). For image edting, break down and get the real thing: Photoshop. I still prefer v. 5.0, when it was a raster editor rather than trying to combine raster AND vector. Good luck.

"ANOTHER USELESS "RIP OFF" SOFTWARE"
Version: ACDSee 8.0
Pros
No suppport. If you messeage then they say "What can we do if it doesn't work". Format your harddisk and LO BEHOLD your fully licensed vesrsion becomes a trial version. They don't even refund.
Cons
You must keep rebuying it and must never format your hard disk even if worms strike your computer dead. Full of Bugs. When you enter the license no. it works till you don't close it but the moment you close it,it becomes a trial version. A real rip off for NON AMERICANS.

"If you need raw NEF support, don't bother"
Version: ACDSee 8.0
Pros
If you don't use raw format, this is a good, full featured image browser / cataloger. If you are using jpgs, giffs, tiffs, or a host of other older formats, this software is quite useful.
Cons
If you use raw NEF format and have a newer camera, they probably don't support it. I have a Nikon 8800, which has been available for close to a year, but the only response from support was that it was on the list and would be available sometime in the future. No details if that meant weeks, months or years. No details as to if it will be a free upgade or not. To date for me, this product was a complete waste of money.

"WASTE OF TIME"
Version: ACDSee 8.0
Pros
NONE
Cons
30 day trial lasted maybe 20 min. Then I was asked to extend trial for 15 days, get real here, don't waste your time with this product. I did use is for 20 min, its not user friendly at all!! JUNK!!

"A superior and necessary program for all picture lovers"
Version: ACDSee 8.0
Pros
I love this program. I use it in my commputer classroom, on my desk and at home. It allows me to sift and review nearly every type of picture file! Auto Advance (slide show) is superior to others in its class. This is a pro-level progeam that the most novice user can pick up intuitively.
Cons
Dealing with the database and catalog should have become trannsparent to the user by now in the devekopment of the program.
-
"Great image viewer and editor."
Version: ACDSee 8.0
Pros
It has a ton of features and works with almost all digital cameras. It saves a lot fo time so I don't have to use a bunch of programs to perform a few simple tasks. I use it to import, edit and convert all my files and it works great.
Cons
It uses quite a bit of memory and costs 50 bucks. If you work with work with images as a job or hobby, it is worth it.

"Buy this program whatever the cost.!"
Version: ACDSee 8.0
Pros
I wasted 50 Dollars and found it to be not only technically defective but a real rip off. But I found one use like a user here. I'm planning to give it to the guy who seduced my gal. It's exceptionally good for those who want revenge. I keep getting their emails "buy this, buy that..."." Well Canadian economy is in shambles, so I guess they are covering up their deficits through ACDSEE. The name's odd too. It doesn't work on XP,it doesn't work on any OS . On opening says "your free trial is over".
Good Luck
Only if you wanna seek revenge.
Cons
The program is pain in the neck and can drive anyone a lunatic. It's a REVENGE TAKING software if you can call it a software at all. Give to your ex wife ,ex gal, current and present enemies so that they end up in lunatic asylums. Oh well Canadians have to come out from their igloos to see their customers in padded cells. The pros are above and you can imagine the what the cons would be. The SUPPORT doesn't respond as they are overburdened with frustrated customers.
I can't understand why CNET doesn't have a Negative Rating System. My Negative rating is "minus infinity"!
BTW where the hell is Burnaby in Canada!?
