It's hard to talk about photo editors without mentioning the industry juggernaut, Photoshop. Although it's a powerful tool, it's also an expensive one that can drain system resources and has far more features than are useful to many photo enthusiasts.
That's where ACDSee Pro comes in. Slightly more expensive than Photoshop Elements, but nearly one-sixth the price of Photoshop CS2, ACDSee has many of the same features as Elements but leaves a much smaller footprint on your system. All the usual tools necessary to managing and editing digital photographs are there, including image reduction and RAW conversion.
The app will also appeal to those who strongly dislike Photoshop's layout. The built-in photo browser--analogous to Adobe Bridge--is far less chaotic, and the editing tools have bigger buttons and their uses are far more obvious. For example, the color-cast adjustment tool is plainly labeled as such.
ACDSee lacks the full-bodied punch of Photoshop, but for someone looking for basic photo editing and RAW support without the cacophony of unnecessary bells and whistles, ACDSee offers an alternative that can make your photos sing.

Pros: Instant preview when hovering your cursor over an image. I love it. Images load faster that any other photo manager software I've seen. This is best the Photo manager. It has its own powerful editing utility, but you could specify to launch a seperate editing tool, if you prefer to.
