Though it provides most necessary features for recording audio, 3D MP3 Sound Recorder has an unfriendly interface and a parsimonious trial restriction that keep us from getting more excited. Its 3D design scheme is attractive, but the tiny, nonresizable interface and the equally small buttons make the control scheme hard to understand and use. For example, after switching our recording sources among line-in, a microphone, and a CD player, it took us quite a while to figure out how to get back to the main window. Despite the design miscues, you can get some assistance from pop-up dialogs that explain the buttons. Like any halfway-decent sound recorder, this program lets you adjust the recording levels from directly within the application, and the scheduling feature is a nice touch for those capturing Net radio shows. 3D MP3 Sound Recorder can save files as MP3s or WAVs, and lets you configure the bit rate if you opt for the former codec. However, we missed a voice-activation feature, and so will folks who primarily record memos. Also, some users may be turned off by this program's measly 60-second recording trial, which somewhat hampers its real-world use. This is by no means a bad recording application, but most folks can do better.Publisher's description
