If you're looking to race big rigs, this isn't the game for you. But if you've ever looked longingly at life on the road, it's worth a try. 18 Wheels of Steel puts the player in the role of truck operator, making business decisions about which cargo to carry and which city to take it to. As the player succeeds, his or her fleet grows ultimately to 35 different trucks. Then it gets tricky. Different drivers will have expertise on different terrains. Some goods are perishable, and won't survive long hauls. Drivers have to get enough sleep on the route, or they'll run into trouble. There isn't much in the way of flashy graphics or standout special effects here, but the gameplay itself is challenging and addictive, and makes for a good addition to the simulator universe. However, the 60-minute trial period doesn't provide enough time to fully experience the game.Publisher's description
From Trymedia Systems :Take your show on the road. Drive your rig to make it big and build your business. Money talks when you're in charge, so get the peons to do the driving while you count your cash. You're not only a trucker, you're a tycoon.

"Very good - everything you could want"
Pros: An amazing game with several different genres as you become more advanced - driving, slowly becoming into strategy. It loads quickly without lag. At first it is a driving game, where you do what you are told by your boss, pick up the things that you should and go where he tells you.
Secondly, you can control yourself, after reaching a certain amount of money and buying your own truck. You can take what you want where you want, and get prestige points for delivering them to the correct places, depending on how much you damage it. You can upgrade your own truck at the cargo terminals, or at a truck dealer, and buy a new one in exchange. You can deliver a wider range of cargo for more money as you get higher prestige levels, displayed by a star. Firstly black, at no prestige points, then bronze, at 25 prestige points. Next, silver at 50 prestige points, and finally gold, at 100 prestige points.
After that, when you are silver star, or 50 prestige points, it becomes more like a strategy game, although you can still drive and delive goods. You can buy more new trucks, and hire drivers for them, which you contact by talking to them ingame. They can travel around just like you, and you can even meet them travelling! When you get to this stage, you can gain money much faster, and with more satisfying results. You upgrade their trucks, and buy them new ones as they get better. All in all, it is an amazing game, with lovely graphics, and gets better as you do too. 5/5 from me!
Cons: Mostly very good, but I think that it could maybe have a tutorial or tell people the controls at the beginning.

Version: 18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal
Summary: I half to say this is my favorite driving next to NFS Underground 2. I like this game because its just so real and the freedom to drive wherever you want to in the US. They should come up with a game like this only with cars.
